My passenger door decided it was time to fail on Thursday, door would not unlock from outside, inside or the central lock button on the dash. Finally unlocked it by removing the button with the flashing LED and using long node pliers to pull the actuation rod, it seemed quite stiff to pull. At least the door is open and next week I can strip it to find the fault. Anyone been here before - I suspect the solenoid must have failed?

Mr Mitchell might be getting another call :)

Hi Mick,

Mine did the same thing. The red door lock button got pressed and then no amount of anything good switch the red light off or open the door. I did the same thing and pulled the door knob up while someone jimmed the key in the lock. We got it open.

Strangley since then I've not had the problem re-occure.

Let us know how you get on.

Wicksay

If the release lever in the outside door handle has not completely sprung back all the way, it can cause the locking mechanism to bind up

Could this be the connecting rod has popped off the mechanism, as in '2' below;

My S2 cab did this, I gave the door a good smack with the side of my fist.

Worked a treat, never happened again. :)

Finally got round to stripping the door panel this afternoon. Exactly right Pad944968, the part indicated is a plastic connection strip with a cup at one end which fits to a ball. Time has got the better of the plastic.

Mick

I wrote up an article in AT last year on doing this job. The plastic thing is around £1.40 from an OPC, I suggest you get two & do t'other side as well, before it locks up!
