My car always runs to cool. The temp gauge hardly ever goes over the quarter mark even after some sprited driving!! I had the car sat running for a while the other day to see if i could get the fans to cut in but no joy. It simply wouldnt get hot enough.

I did notice however that one of the rad fans runs at a slow speed at all times. Im not sure if it runs from cold start but it was certainly running after the car had been only been stood for 5 mins running from cold.

Has anyone got a clue as to whats going on? Faulty temp sender maybe?

Stu

Hmm

might be worth bleeding the system to eliminate the possibility of an airlock?

Could be a thermostat issue - if it is stuck open, the car will run too cool?

I'd go for stat as well. Be warned they are a pain to change, brass stat, ali housing, steel circlip!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vorsprung Durch Technic my ar5e!
If it's OK I'd leave it until a cambelt change & swap water pump at the same time then fit a new 'un.

Does the heater work?

If it does then its not the stat.

Normally if the stat is stuck open then the gauge will not move at all

Yes it does. Infact it could burn your face off it gets so hot

It also warms up very quickly so probably just a dodgy gauge which seems to be the norm on these cars.
