My 1980 924 is unwilling to start! engine turns over fine but there is not a hint of it catching. Northways suggest fuel pump fuse and relay and i'll check for this along with sparks later but if anybody has any other ideas they would be gladdly accepted.

Cheers Rob

Yup listen for the pump running when you first switch on the ignition, or whilst it's turning over. Favourites are kanckered pump or connections, water & attendent corrosion in the fuse box. Also the relay dies which is specific for the pump control, it has a feed from the coil to show "engine turning" I've knocked the connection off the coil in the past which can take some hunting
Are the plugs wet? Blast some easy start or gas from a lighter up the air intake & see if it fires.

shouldn't be water in the plugs as it doesn't go out in the rain! But i'll definately check everything cheers!

Not familiar with these engines but could it be the crank position sensor? Recently spent ages wondering why my VW wouldn't start then realised that I'd knocked the plug for this sensor off.

Spent ages finding out whether the was a spark (which there wasn't) then turned out to be something stupidly simple. Had an old Ford which refused to start for the same reason to, gave the sensor a wipe with a cloth and it fired up.

I might go with Madrob on the crank position sensors.
Had a similar problem with mine not long after I got it.. Took the AA man almost 2 hours to get the part out and then reseat it after a good clean. Hasn't been a problem since.

Errr... don't confuse the poor guy. 924 is Mechanical injection, no CAS etc.....

Sorry wasn't aware of that. My first Ford had a carb but still had computerised injection, weird stuff.
