I have Bridgestone S02's on my 951 road wheel and I am very pleased with them. I have a set of part worn Conti Sport Contacts on my track day wheel and I think they are pretty good too, but I've never used them in the wet. I think all the N rated tyres tend to be premium brands and are all good in different ways. I've heard Toyo's are good for track day use but frightening in the wet! |

Aye, the consensus seems to be that Toyos are the grippier, softer option but Conti Sport Contacts are the harder-wearing, much better in the wet, alternative. |

Depends on how much your budget is. Falkens are way up there with many enthusiasts and cheap. |

Mine runs standard sizes fr a lux which is 205/55 x 16 & 225/50 x 16. I run GSD3 which are great but probably a bit biased towards comfort for some. Full on toy use I'd probably go either Falkens or Bridgestones. |

I fitted some Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas (who??!!) to mine after a recommendation in the Evo mag tyre test, especially for wet grip, which with 'Booost' and rwd, I thought might be a good idea..... ![]() 2000 miles later and I'm very impressed with their grip and refinement (in 18" form) and they grip hard in the wet too, right up until the boost kicks in...... ![]() Got mine from Camskill Tyres website for good price too. |

I've stayed with the standard sizes for my every day wheels 225/50 R16 and 245/45 R16, the SE has 9" rear wheels, on the track day wheels I've got 225/45 R17 and 255/40 R17. I've weighed then and the 17's are actually lighter with tyres than the 16's they also feel slightly more responsive with the lower profile tyres, but are more uncomfortable. |

DaveM wrote: more responsive with the lower profile tyres, thanks for the input so far. is it a really stupid idea to drop down a profile size on the same wheels in the hope of increasing steering feel???? ie: run 205/50/16 and 225/45/16 (why are the profile staggered, taller up front?) I know this will mess with the speedo/milage but i can't afford V3's until i win the lottery ![]() any idea's on how to improve steering response on a budget(ish) |

If you reduce the toe-in then you can make the car more "pointy" as does increasing the negative camber, although both will reduce tyre life. Try playing with tyre pressures within sensible limits might be worthwhile. |

The rear 245 tyres are wider than the front 225s so have a lower percentage, but the sidewall is virtually the same. EG: 50% of 205 is a sidewall of 102.5mm 45% of 225 is a sidewall of 101.25mm |

I use Toyo Proxes T1Rs and they seem to be very good in the dry and not to bad in the wet certainly not as bad as I thought they were going to be. |
