Hello,

new to the forum having just bought a 1990 944 S2 cabriolet.

Looking online to buy a haynes manual but the book seems only to cover models upto 1989.
Anyone any idea if this will cover the 1990 3.0 S2 or if there is a later book available.

Also any ideas where i could buy a tonneau cover from & idea of cost please.

Regards
Paul

There isn't a haynes manual that covers the S2 specifically , but there are workshop manuals available to download or buy on disc.Have a look on ebay or search the forums for the download ( not sure exactly where they are , but I am sure someone will be along shortly to tell!! )
Tonneau covers are actually only hood covers ( ie they dont cover the cockpit ) .New they are horrendously expensive ( £400 + ) but they come up on ebay from time to time.I think there was one recently on their from a breakers at £250 , but that seems a bit steep.

Haynes Manuals for the Porsche are not as good as they could be. I would recommend

http://www.clarks-garage.com/

These go into so much more detail and are better used for your planning.

Hi Paul

As above re the manuals.

Cars are pretty easy to work on generally, spares back up is good from OPCs (Official Porsche Centres) and lots of good independents. Don't rule out OPCs on costs - they are often competitive.

They are basicly solid reliable cars with more than a fair turn of speed and still turn heads at 20+ years of age.

Enjoy the summer ..... and winter, I've been to meets in February where cabs have turned up hoods down!

Cheers

Mike

PS Did any one mention Pictures......

Id say that the Haynes US 944 manual is useless, and a complete waste of about £15. A used Haynes 924 is more useful.

Good choice!
I had a 91H s2 cab for 7 years and loved every minute of it. Great handling and lots of power.

When I traded it in I kept the tonneau cover and ebayed it. Not knowing what it was worth I was stunned when I got £300 for it... (sorry)

Billy

Hi all,

apologies for resurrecting an old topic, but I have just acquired an S2 Cab and my 2 questions are identical to the OP's. Plus, I wanted to prove I had bothered to search  .

Seems the general consensus was:
1. Haynes manual is rubbish
2. Look on ebay for a hood cover.

So, just wondering if anything new has popped up on these 2 questions in the last 2 years.

Thanks in advance.
