Afternoon everyone.
Well Tina has been up for sale for a little while due to some emergency building work being done about the house.
I could have borrowed the money from the bank but the music business is not exactly flush so I am in constant danger of redundancy.
Thus I thought if I could sell the car at a reasonable price then I would and if not then I would keep her and borrow the cash from the bank.
Well it was looking like I was on for keeping her as the only people who rang up were fools or dreamers.

Until last night when a nice chap from Reading turned up to view Tina. He brought his wife along too and they are both into cars.

So after some proding and poking and a test drive the deal was done.

Tina is being picked up tomorrow morning at 9:00am and thus I am no more a Porsche owner.

It has been a pleasure owning my 944 and the meetings, the events and indeed this formum have helped me along the way.

I do not know when I will be able to buy another car or indeed if it will even be a Porsche but for now I am without wheels (excluding my push bike).

I'll stay in touch on here though and maybe one day another fine Porsche will grace my driveway.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks all and enjoy your summer driving.

Sad times, but at least she went to a good home.

What do you do in the music business? I'm not involved from a business perspective, but gigs and recordings are my main hobby (along with cars of course!)

I used to be a Rock Star but with out the fame and fortune, drugs, women and private jets.
Now I work in the production department for Universal.
So I get stuff together, make it look pretty and tell the printers to print it.

Not so glamorous but for now it pays the bills. (Touching wood).

Sorry to hear she's going but as you rightly point out needs must. Hope to see you back as an owner sometime.

Come on then, which rock star did you used to be? I've always wondered what you did with a name like Hitman Hack.

Just out of interest.

John my Rock Star name was Jay Stryczek and I was in a band called Drugdealer Cheerleader.

You have probably not heard of them nor me and thus I never had the fame and fortune.
But I did have a damn good time.

So anyway, Tina departed today, the new owners are Ed and Hazel and they looked very happy.

They will be joining TIPEC too so you should see the car lurking around every now and again I should imagine.

Enjoy your cars everyone, I will be on the road soon I am sure.

Googled the band and had a look on YouTube (everybody should have a look) - there's quite a lot of videos of your band on there. Pretty impressive, get it going again and get on the university gigs circuit - you must be able to make a few bob there.

That said I do know about the ins and outs of a rock band from my neighbour's experiences, so as I don't know the reason yours stopped in the first place..... I'll shut up.

The tune's still going round in my head though - that Gimme Some Love one.

I had to sell my first 944 in 2000 for different reasons than you've sold yours. Five years later I was able to get myself another one - the current S2. So there's hope yet.

Ahhh Give Me Some Love, I have not heard that in a while. That went in the UK charts believe it or not.
We split up because when the credit crunch hit our record label went bust.
From then on we could fund ourselves and break even but the tours got smaller, the venues got smaller, the crowds got smaller and the buses and riders all got smaller.
So we packed it in before we were playing to no one in empty pubs and getting no food or drink and losing a fortune.
I'm trying to start again from scratch but not interested in a record deal. Just fun and beer. And maybe women and the odd private jet.
We retired disgracefully last October and none of us are going back to that band again. The glory days are well and truly in our past.
So no band, no car. All I need now is for my woman to leave me and there is a blues classic in the making right there.

Then I'll go to number one, buy my old Porsche back, lose the rest on bad drunken investments, go broke and sell Tina once more to raise drugs and prostitute money.

Swings and roundabouts this music lark.

I've been in and out of loads of bands that have gone nowhere despite lots of hard work, I did music technology at uni. Now I content myself with solo recording / writing projects, a spare bassist for a function band when they need me, and a local jam night. This way I don't have to try and pretend to make money. For that, I repair computers. They will always be around!

I don't want to spam the forum or be too off topic, but I have a SoundCloud and YouTube channel if you're interested.

It's all interesting. I'll listen to anything once. I can't play a note on anything so am always impressed by those who can. We recently went for a night out at Matt and Phreds in Manchester. That's a jazz bar, really good night out, and the bassist's sound was amazing - I could feel it!

Drugdealer Cheerleader is more like my neighbour's band, and in fact would probably make a good support act for them. My next-door neighbour is Billy Duffy of The Cult. Fortunately has has got the fame / fortune / women (Cameron Diaz and Nicolette Scorsese to name a couple) etc etc. He lives in Los Angeles and when he comes home next door is his house / home. He was last here for the last Manchester City game of the season, flew all the way here from LA, arrived Saturday, watched the game and went home Wednesday..... how the other half live. He was interviewed before the game with his best pal Jonny Marr. I've met quite a few people because they've been round here to see Billy.

Just keep plugging away at it, both of you. What you need is one good tune. In Billy's case he wrote She Sells Sanctuary which is featured on loads of adverts, programs like Top Gear, movies like Layer Cake, and so on.

Anyway, enough for now as the BBQ is on and I have to tend to it.

Good luck.

Why don't I ever have cool neighbours??!??

Even my famous customers are not as cool as someone from the Cult... damn, did I just say that out loud? :) Then again I think they would agree and probably say the same thing as my opening line...
