Hello to all, this is my first post,as i am new to the world of porsche 944 turbo,as for the last 12 years are so i have allways had scimitars. So this is my problem with my car which i have had about 4 month.when i first got the car it went like a rocket, but in the last month are so it seems off, still fast but not like it was,3rd gear is the worst, somtimes it feels like the turbo is just not coming in but the boost gauge still reads 2 bar, other times i no it as come in but not with the force that it used to have. Now it dose not do this all the time as sometimes i can put my foot down and it is back like when i first got the car,but this is becoming less and less.the only other problem i have had with the car was that it would not start when hot, turned out to be dirthy connection on the speed sencore, are refrence sencore,if i gave it a widdle it would start up,i have cleaned the connections up now and its fine Any help would be Appreciated thanks

Hi First thought would be a leak in the induction system, but I'm not a turbo expert!

I'd have a post on the Porsche Club GB forum (hope I can say that here!) as I know there are a lot of turbo guys on there.

Is it standard ie standard ECU chips ? the boost gauge on the dash is crap to say the least and it only real shows 1 bar boost as the other 1 that you are seeing is atmospheric pressure.
Where i am coming from is that if chipped / remapped it would have been producing more than 1 bar boost pressure (Reading 2 on the dash)
You would not be able to tell if boost pressure has been lost if it has, check all turbo related hoses for loose clips and splits, has the fuel filter been changed recently ?
Let us know how you get on.
Jim.

Jim.

I wouldn't say the standard gauge is crap, it's adequate for a standard car.

Hi all,i forgot to say that the engine was rebuilt about 25k ago,as far as i no it is standard and has not been chiped,i can not find any air leaks,i just can not figer out what is not right, the car is almost the same as when i got it when it is running cold, seems alot les boost when at normal temp,it dose not run hot, infact i can not fault the car apart from this lack of power,i will post all the things that as been done to the car in the last 2 thousand miles, this may help find the problem. thanks again, George
