My 1985 (Square dash Lux) 944 needs a new throttle cable. (Saga detailed elsewhere!)
I ordered the correct one for my car from my OPC but when it came, I noticed it was different. The one on my car is adjusted at the throttle end where as the new one was adjusted at the bulkhead. They assured me that the bulkhead adjust is the correct one and that I should try it and come back to them if it doesnt fit.

Well, it doesn't fit!! The bracket at the throttle end is completely different and won't take the other cable, so I'm going to have to replace like with like. Question is, if my car has the "wrong" cable, what age car is it from? Does anyone know when Porsche started using the cables with throttle body screw adjust?

I can only think that someone in the car's life has converted it to use a later cable (Not sure why) but I need to help my OPC out as they don't know much about the 944 to be honest....

You should just be able to give OPC your VIN and they will tell you what is required? Did they ask for the VIN when you ordered?

The cable they have given me is apparently the correct one for my car. It seems it's been converted at some point in the past.

So, is it the same as your 1982 auto car? If so, order one for that. If not, order one for an S2?

The 82 is a 924 so completely different system. I'm also thinking that the S2 one might be right but just want to check that the throttle end adjust definitely came in with the oval dash in 85.5
