Post subject: | Hello ! now about 944 Turbos ... |
Should just say Hi all as its my first post here... After lurking around the various Porsche forums (DDK, IB, etc.) I am led to believe this is a good place to talk about 944 Turbo's .. To tell you where Im coming from - owned a 993 a couple of years back and now looking at a Porsche again but budget is limited (say around 5-6 -ish) .. Having tried to get up to the price for low-end SC's I have now turned to the other Porsche that has always attracted me - that being the 944 Turbo, so ive started looking around, and build my knowledge on these cars ... Does anybody have any wisdom they'd like to share ?? I know a 944 is very different to the 911 so Im not worried about that - also quite interested in the 'tune-ability' of the turbo (either 220 or 250bhp cars) ... Feel free to point me to any cars currently on the market you think look good ! thanks, Mike |

Hi & welcome Mike. There is a buyers guide on here under the 944 section, written by someone or another, which is worth printing & reading. Also you're in Kent, whereabouts? I run the South East London North Kent group of TIPEC together with my ARO Paul & it'd be good to see you at a meeting, no regular turbo attendees but lots of 944 owners. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5183 http://tipec.net/region_southeastlondon.php |

Hello Mike, You could be making a really sensible decision here. ![]() I've had 3 944's since 2004, culminating in probably my last Porsche, a Tastefully Tweaked 944 Turbo purchased in Jan 2007 with it's rebuilt blueprint engine in 2005, just covered 12,000 glorious miles. needless to say I am over the moon with this car and would really recommend one. I believe most Turbo owners who have sold theirs later regret it ![]() I spent ages deciding on what to get,924, 944, 911, 968, 928 ? so started with a 2.7 944 then an S2 Cab but soon realised that a Tweaked 944 Turbo was the ultimate for me. (and it still is ![]() plenty of info in the following topics :- viewtopic.php?f=25&t=12499&start=0 and see my comments on recent supercar experiences you will appreciate my reasoning. Regarding tune ability see 944 UK League http://www.cannell.co.uk and also this post :- http://www.tipec.net/_forums/viewtopic. ... 05&start=0 Not sure what is currently on the market but it might be worth giving Jon Mitchell a ring as he indirectly helped me source mine. http://www.jmgarage.com/CAR-SALES/JMG/carsales-jmg.htm I have also used Hartech with my S2 and they have very good track record with 944's and Turbo models. JMG and Hartech are 2 independents I have used and can recommend. HTH Clive |

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 944 turbo, it's the best vehicle I have owned or driven and I have driven lots of cars! Unfortunatley I had an accident in mine recently and wrote it off but I plan to get it back on the road at some point. |

Guards Red 944 Turbo - almost had to sell it but decided not to and now she is back on the road. Great to drive, comfy and practical as well (I was doing trips to the tips and carry the bikes in mine!). Easily tuned up as well although normal performance is pretty damn good as well. |
