You need to get organised. Carry a spare spark plug, next tie it stops dive out, pull an HT lead off & find if you have a spark by plugging the loose plug into the lead. If you have no spark, put a bulb or meter across the coil does it flash?
Is the fuel pump still running when it stops, connect a pair of wires across the fuel pump & bring them into a side light bulb or similar inside the car. Is it still lit when the car stops, fuel pump relays can go flakey on these early systems.
This should give you something to go on. DON'T haphazardly replace bits that can cause massive grief.

It's an early car they don't have a DME relay as the later cars. They have just a fuel pump relay.

Try testing the fuel pump relay. A 12V battery, bulb, and some test leads are all you will need.

As he said, also check the fuse box around the fuel pump relay is not full of corrosion.

Aye. Would be worth checking that supply is getting to the pump (as you said further up).

Is it cutting out when idle or with throttle open?

The time of the posting may look a bit strange, but I am sat in Toronto and it's five hours behind UK time. Hardly any Porsches here, only seen 1 x 964C2, 2 x 928, 1 x Cayman, 1 x Cayenne.

Mine did this cutting out thing too. It was a dirty plug on the side of the MAF. I found the problem by accident. Then I took the plug off, cleaned it, put it back on securely - never had a problem since.

Good luck with it.
