Hey,

Now we're in the new year I've got a few projects I want to get out of the way...

Seats.
My driver seats are worn and would like to replace/recover them. Budget is about £200. I could get some replacement vinyl covers on ebay for around that price and have heard good things about them. The other option is to buy a good condition passenger porsche script seat and swap the cover to the driver side. - Anyone got one for sale!?
- Any other recommendations/ideas for seat covers?

Boot blind.
I currently don't have a boot blind and understand it is different to the standard as I have split folding rear seats. - is this right?

Heater control pannel.
the plastic fascia is cracked and the air recirculation button is chipped/worn. The controls work fine, so could buy a broken one in good aesthetic condition to repair. - Any that are in good condition for sale?

Rear drivers suspension sagging.
My torsion bar seems to be sagging. I have read its fairly common on the S2 and requires removing the torsion bar and rotating. Its roughly 1" lower on drivers side rear, how many splines do I need to rotate it by?

Hi Nick,

Heater control panel:

I had the same issue on mine, and after asking around on here and Porsche Club, the best option was to buy new (not expensive in the scheme of things) - got mine from Max at Frazerpart, who is always a pleasant and helpful chap to deal with.

Rear drivers suspension sagging:

Again, I had the same issue on mine. Seems these cars suffer slightly from having a big hump of man sitting on their right hand side driving them for 20 odd years! Apparently torsion bar re-indexing can be a PITA job, if not doing it yourself can rack up a lot in labour hours, and sometime various bolts are horribly seized. I got scared and didn't attempt it myself, thats not to say that somebody much more competent on here will have the knowledge and experience to help you though. However, take a look at these, in case you haven't already:

AND

There are some eccentric bolts that allow about +/- 3/4 inch adjustment on the rear ride height for each side. I managed to get mine suitably level by playing with these - much easier! :-) I also changed the rear shocks whilst in there, as they were totally knackered! Probably worth bearing in mind as well that the front struts can be worn too, and in my case I need to sort the drivers side front eventually, as this is pulling the whole side of the car down slightly. More ££££s :-(

Hope thats of some help...

James

Hi,

thanks for the reply.
Frazerpart sounds like a good option if I cant source a good used part. and thanks for pointing me to the eccentric bolts, I'll certainly have a play with them before I drop the whole rear end.

I found the lugs at the back of the heater fascia go brittle when you snap it on they break ......go direct to porsche they are only a few quid....will be cheaper in the long run
