Post subject: | Electric Seats |
Evening all One of my buttons fell of my drivers electric seat today. I have 2 button 2 way adjustment. Turns out the plastic button had broken and sheared off the prong type thing. Anyway, I have melted that back together with my soldering iron and it seems fine for the time being. That's not my point though! I took out fuse number 6 before proceeding. Electric seat adjustment, 30A, because I was sure the seats moved with ignition off. Anyway put it all back together, popped in fuse and checked passenger seat cos I was round there. Working fine with ignition off. No movement on drivers seat so though so I thought I must have gubbed the switch completely, never mind, thought I would take the fuse back out until I had a new switch. Started car to move back into driveway and for some reason I tried the switch and hey presto seat moved??? ![]() So to clarify. Passenger seat moves with ignition off or on and stops functioning when said fuse number 6 is out. Drivers seat only functions with ignition on and still functions with fuse 6 removed. I can't see a separate fuse for drivers side plus why would one work ignition off and the other only when on? I can only assume someone has been in there before me and has switched the live feed? Any thoughts on my issue and explanations of normal operation are appreciated! Edit to add there was no sign of any bodging on the seat wiring to switch or to motors. Cheers Stuart |

Was this with doors open or closed? I think it may be on the same circuit as the windows, which work with ignition off but ONLY with the doors open, |

Haven't tried passenger seat with ignition off and door closed. I presume you would be right and that electric adjustment is allowed for an entering passenger. The windows have a different fuse but seem to work on the same principle as the seats. Regardless though my driver seat is definately on a different circuit and plays to different rules! Stuart |
