Post subject: | Which 968? |
Question I have posted elsewhere: Want a 968 as a weekend toy for the odd blast over to Goodwood, possibly a track day or two and the odd European road trip. Really hoping for minimal depreciation and a useable vehicle. Really fancy a Club Sport, but OH is significantly smaller so presume the fixed Recaros would be an issue in terms of driver swapping. Is this correct? Ninex have a nicely upgraded coupe which I am going to look at this evening - has LSD and lowered suspension along with adjustable dampers. Seems like a good spec if it's not too harsh, but am I going to lose out on depreciation, what with it not being a Sport or CS? Where does the Sport fit? Would this be a more sensible option than a modded Coupe in terms of resale? Sorry if it sounds like I'm only worried about money, but I guess that all these options are going to drive heaps better than anything else I own (bangernomics practitioner so daily driver is a Citroen BX Estate, other car is VW camper!), and cost is going to be the main differentiator I think. FWIW don't mind spending more on a CS if it's worth it in the long run. Remember trying to work out if I could afford a 964RS back when they were around £21-£23k - wish I'd taken the plunge on one of them! |

The best compromise in my opinion would be a Sport. This is basically a CS but without the price tag. A sport can be easily tweeked and can be made into a track machine. I fitted Recaro sports buckets into my Sport and these actually slid back and forth on the runners allowing access to the rear seats for my children. I would buy a sport and use the savings over a CS to modify it. HTH |

the 968 Sport or Clubsport debate! first up a few facts; Coupe was the coupe, first out. Sports were infact built as CS's on the same production line and actually have CS VIN numbers. They simply added a few bits and pieces to the CS's to make the Sport for the UK market only. Unless you really want the CS badge, the slightly lower weight and the quite considerably higher purchase price I'd get the sport. Same engine, same box, same running gear but with things like electric windows. To note CS's didn't all have the recaro's... The only things really for the CS is the depreciation is likely to be less (certainly for pristine examples) but then again decent Sports are available for under £8k so you wouldn't lose much. The white one at ninex is a good car, was owned by Paul Follet who races in the championship - this was his road car and has been upgraded to at least (above really) Sport spec anyway. |
