Have a weird fault on the 944. When you turn the steering wheel to the left you get a knocking noise which is felt through the wheel. Turn it to the right no problem. It isn't the column or its extension. And it doesn't matter how much or little lock you have on to do it
Is it the rack???? I've never heard anything like this before.

Broken coil spring ? Sounds a bit like the symptoms on my boxster - I was convinced the noise was central and could feel slightly through the wheel

Hi Jim

I get more lock on the 924 turning right than I do when turning left. When on full right lock, my front tyre rubs on the inner wing and makes an 'orrible noise. I should fix it, but ashamed to say, I just live with it

It's not that is it?

OK, just been out & jacked it up, all coils OK, both UJs in column OK, both Trackrod ends OK.
?????
Beginning to think it is a chipped pinion on the rack. As it only appears at some points in a revolution. Otherwise seems OK so safe to drive.
