I've been well and truly caught by the Porsche bug and am considering selling my 944 S2 to get a 993........

I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing though as I've spent over £1500 in 3 months on my S2..... the clutch being the main expense........ and I'm obviously not going to get that back when i sell it as it will only value at roughly the same price i bought it for!!!!!!! Plus it's a great car and it runs perfectly with no problems at all........

I've driven a 993 and i do like them.... and as a 3rd car it would be great!!!!

So the question is should i or shouldn't i?????

Erm, no offence intended but only you can make the decision. Personally with 993 prices as they are at present I'd be looking at a 964. In fact there are a couple of turbos in the pistonheads classifieds for 993 ish money..

Well

How about keeping the 944 and buying a 993

You have read my article in the club magazine and you know what I think of 993's. It's not the purchase cost that is necessarily the problem, running costs need to be considered and so buying at the right price is vital. To much is out there that is not good value for the high prices being asked

If you are at the club night on Monday perhaps have a chat

There are two other members there who you might also chat with who have owned or still own fabulous 993's, one of which was also in the last edition of the club magazine, silver turbo.

I also have a 993TT (1998) in proper hand drive and that is the full monty of a car, the 944 I have only just got and the main purpose is for a car I can drive and not be too worried about where I park it (i.e. the station)

they are completly different beasts but both put a smile on your face.

Personal thoughts are:- is a 993 worth that much more over a 944? In terms of driving experience I'm not sure I could warrant that amount of money on a toy!
Also 993's are probably one of the few more modern Pork that is pretty depreciation proof, prices are definitely hardening also as the last "hand made" air cooled pork they are bound to be the collectors choice in future.
