Just had to shout somewhere ![]() My 944 - passed its second (in my ownership) MOT clean this morning - with a informal word on rear handbrake being 'just' OK - but no formal advisories... Very happy given it was my first resto on a 944 in 2010, including changing both NS and OS sills and lots of other work after 5 years off road - and it all still seems good. ANother year of 944 motoring - my fav car I have ever owned. |

Well done, doctor! By coincidence, I had my MoT today, but didn't fare quite so well: (Edit: what did I expect on the 13th ![]() Split tyre valve ![]() both wipers split - the alleged 'splits' were a half inch on one end where the blade had separated on one, and a quarter inch on the other! ![]() Long list of advisories: both front wheel bearings loose (MoT tester not seen many RWD cars...?) numerous rusty rear brake pipes low tread on rear tyres (kerching! ![]() |

Always nerve racking with any car, but more so with these old 'uns..... Always the fear of something terminal cost wise being found. Mine got thru ok couple of weeks back. All ok for another year... ![]() |

Seems a wee bit pedantic on the part of the MOT tester Mike? I'm fortunate I think in that I always use the same MOT tester - a small outfit near me who sees a number of older cars (I was in there a few weeks back with another project MR2 and he was testing a nice Hillman Imp) and seems flexible with relatively minor issues. |

Yeah, but overall I probably got off lightly. You're right: it is worth building a relationship with a sympathetic MoT tester. Our cars are appreciated as something 'special', or a least out-of-the-ordinary. In my case, a new Honda franchise opened up directly across the road from my work and the sheer convenience was too good to pass up. So I've strated building up my 'credit' from scratch again... |
