I don't ask for help very often, but after getting annoyed with the 944 I was going to get a box of matches out. Everything is ok, except there is no power to the fuel pump. If I put 12v on it, the car starts and runs fine until a few seconds after I take it off. After being upside down in the passenger foot-well for a while, I've decided I'm going to replace the cable from the relay to the pump and see if it helps. Is there anything else that stops the power to the pump? All fuses and relays are ok, as I took them out the 928 (relays that is, as the fuses are different but I tested them (why am I telling you this? I'm paranoid someone is going to say I missed something)). The rev' counter bounces when you turn it over. I just thought I should get that in. I should have looked at this sooner, because it will now be the weekend before I get another look. ![]() ![]() Early 944 (Feb' 83), square dash, no ABS/PAS. |

The DME can kill the fuel pump. It is a safety circuit in case of accident, The fuel is automatically cut off if the engine stops. Some tests you can try. DME relay bypass. http://www.the944.com/dmerelay.htm |

Found a broken cable. The relay box was like a birds nest. The previous owner has done some mod's? or a feable attempt at a repair? I've never had an issue with the electrics on the car before, so never looked. Still car is back on the road, and just in time as the 928 is the garage for a few bits and pieces. ![]() |
