Anyone know how the clutch and brake pedal housing is mounted 2 the fire wall? Other day I replaced the clutch slave, there was still a slight squcking coming from the black housing behind the clutch when the clutch was operated. I tighten the single 13mm nut and it only turned about 1/4 at most. This did stop the noise. 350 miles later the sqecking started again, then all off a sudden there was play in the clutch. The housing is slightly free and causing the clutch 2 push agnsit the push rod from the master at a slight angle, it then frees up after the first inch or so off travel. I took a look at the housing the nut was tight against it but moving freely with the housing as one. So I suspected the bolt has snapped or came free. Expecting 2 find a bolt head on the other side off the fire wall, there isn't. Didn't look like it could be behind the front wheel arch liner, but that seemed 2 make illogical sense 2 be there. I removed the front wheel liner 2 find it also isn't there. This leads be 2 believe there's ethir a d shaped bracket which would allow the head off a spanner 2 get behind and hold the bolt will the nut is done up or it's a wielded stud and the wield broke? Now the 1st seems more llogtical. If it is how the he'll do you get room 2 it? Iv been on my back and I can't even get my fingers behind the housing. This is something I got 2 do 1st thing b4 work tmw. So if anyone knows exactly what I need 2 do, you help will be most appreciated. |

The mounting bracket is welded to the body of the csr under the dash. The clutch pedal has a pin that goes through this bracket and the pedal pivots on this pin. Some have what is called a needle sleeve, some a bushing and some nothing depending on the year of the car. There is a clip on one end of the pin, but it vert rarely just pops off. Good luck! |

Thanks, what iv found is a stud( bolt welid 2 a squre washer ) which looks like it sat in a squre cup. This would stop the stud rotating while the nut is turned. However the washer had broke just about the stud. There for no longer able 2 sit in the cup. However it took about an hour 2 free that. Without disconnecting all the pedal assbelty and creating another stud. So I drilled and fixed it 2 some large plates in the heater part off the engine bay, this has worked, however there seems 2 be strain on the clutch pedals opration as it's now very stiff and has a really strong spring back. Can this be adjusted. Or has the my make stiff bracket put to much upward pull on the spring? I would just drill though the fire wall and mount that way but there no real accesse |

Well I made a differnt bracket, it's got a upright that FIxed up right inside the fire wall as well as the floor, this has eliminated any flex in the engine/heater bay floor. Clutch is still stiffer after the free play there's need 4 leg force, can't just depresse with foot from heel. Spring back is still strong. But no strange noises now. Which is something. |
