I inherited my fathers S2 a few years ago, it's only done 34000 miles, has been in a garage most of it's life and I now only use it in the summer months and put it away for the winter. The car has nice 17" cup wheels on it and a momo steering wheel but otherwise is totally as stock. Having just joined this forum I see many people fit chips, remap, upgrade suspension ,exhausts etc. I wondered if any of these things really make much difference and if so what makes the best upgrade to improve the way the car rides. I should add I love the way the car drives now, and want to keep the car for the future. Belts have been done and all oils and fluids have been done.
Apart from a few small dents the bodywork is excellent and underneath the car looks very clean, infact when I mot'd it last the inspector was so suprised he called me out to show me it up on the ramp. Should I waxoil it somehow?
I find it easy to get excited about fitting new bits, but most seem to give minimal gains unless you are using on the track and maybe I should just keep as stock.
If you would upgrade anything what order would you do it in? Thanks in advance for your comments!

TBH on a low mieage car that is prestine you may be better off leaving it standard. Notwithstanding that mine is modded, as in S2 front, S2 brakes & suspension.
A lot of the mods I see done are of sometimes dodgy taste. I'm pretty convinced that lowering "FOR ROAD USE ONLY" gives limited results, by all means upgrade to the latest damper & spring technology (KWs etc.) but I regard that as maintenance not upgrades. The Dansk or similar exhaust is a sensible replacement for the very expensive Porsche OEM one. The jury is out on the chip change, on N/A cars chips have a very limited effect, although a rolling road session & a bespoke chip will have some small benefits. Most of the body kits I see on 944s are cack, although I quite like Poprocks new vented wings as they are quite subtle.

My view for what it is worth!

If the condition is near a mint as can get, I would strongly sirsugest leave it that way. Hopefully it could stay rust free 4 another ten years. I would be temped 2 put the stock wheels back On and keep or sell on. A car that stood 4 so long will need over halling. But inside and out could be fantsic. There's so many cheaper s2 about 2 start playing with. I would get another s2 make one mint car from them both, upgrade none minter. Alot off upgrades are in replacement off failed parts, only things detegrate from lack off use is rubber and lubcartens. Or you could sell the mint example and use the money 2 fund the other project.

I would keep it in the family if u can, could be worth something one day? Use when u need a nice drive, use the other as a toy.

Some pictures would be nice.
Get then lOoked at buy paintless removal guys. The s2 is Porsche last run off the 944 and is pretty much upgraded. Iv drove a 90,000 mileage one the other day and was plenty fast anoth.

Waxoil or simmler, 1st remove the the vent in the door, put a phone camera in 2 see the condition off the sills. If minmal or no rust, protect. Remove the front bumper and do inside off the wings and badge panel above the air box, inside off the light lids. Remove the wheel arch liners and do behind there, underseal all the underside.

Really good looking car.
I'd look to keep it as it is.

To improve the ride, I would put it back on it's original wheels (D90's).

Lovely shine, be intersting 2 know when I was last washed and poilshed, when mine was red it would look like that, but would only last a week b4 it started 2 look sun kissed again. the intenour well be the most noticeable impression maker. Expressly if it got light coloured carpets. I think d90s are a much nicer wheel anyway.

Keep it stock. Might actually be worth something one day. Maybe a back box as suggested but thats it. Should get some original wheels for it as well. Good show car!

It has just been polished...i invested in a dual action polisher to get rid of some cloudiness on the front bonnet panel and it worked wonders, however it does need regular polishing to keep the finish. Before polishing the front bumper looked a little pink relative to the rest of the car, but some gentle cutting seems to have got rid of that.

Nice car and as everyone says don't mess with it too much. Rare to have such few miles on it. That said my car has this kit on it http://www.promaxmotorsport.co.uk/products/91-promax-power-kit.aspx. It had it on before I got the car so can't tell you what the difference is before/after. I don't believe that there is much more you can do (cheaply) to an S2 to get more power than what the promax kit will give. If there is tell me!

As for rust protection, yes, that is a very good idea. You need to fill the sills and the cavity in the rear with cavity wax. Additionaly ensure that the drain holes in the sills are clear. There is better stuff out there than waxoil, see Dinitrol or Bilt Hamber.

Keep it stock, and try to find some D90s, 7" at the front and 8" at the rear. If you do mod it, keep all the stock items so that you can return it when you get bored

Leave " as is" not a lot to be gained with chips and stuff on an S2, try to find some D90's in turbo size 9" rear which would be subtle, keep plenty of wax on it to preserve the shine (wax and polish are 2 different things) polish, polishes, wax protects the shine/paint.
Get it rustproofed, drive it and enjoy it,it looks lovely.
Does not suit the twist wheels IMO.
Has the cam chain tensioner slipper pad been looked at/changed ? if not get it done as this is a serious achilles heel, not a lot of money to sort but potentially expensive.
