Well, 2 days into S2 ownership and I'm loving it!! A quick query -- the original chrome tip went bad and was taken off some years ago. It was documented in the service history. So, courtesy of PorscheShop a shiny new tip arrived today. However, there are no securing bolts and it appears way too big for the actual tail pipe. Am I missing something, or have they sent the wrong bit? It appears as if it should just push on, but of course just slides around and would fall off straight away. So, any bright ideas re. fixing it, and are there different sizes of trim?

Many thanks all.

Normal trim is oval shape about 3/4" wide, MIT be wield ? Iv got a twin oval slashed cut on mine, fills the gap in the rear valance better and complments the rear 968 spoiler

To weld it you have to take the tail box off. Best way is to drill a 6.5 mm hole from the underneath through both the trim & the original exhaust. Then secure with a cap screw & nut & washer. You have to remember that you have to reach it with an Allen key so don't go too far back! Fixed mine this way 4 years ago & it's still good. If you use a stainless cap screw it won't go rusty. Easy job. :)

It should just be a tight fit, no welding, screwing, bolting required. You either have an aftermarket exhaust or, knowing that shop, they have sent you some old crap that is no good, send it back!

I would still want a bolt through it. I've seen them come off. Very dangerous. My Dansk came with one welded. But after 10K miles the weld sheared with vibration. The bolt does the job.

Done it! Agreed, put two bolts through in any case, one near front and other towards back, looks great compared to rusty tailpipe.
