Hi everyone ![]() I've a 1985 2.5 8v 944 which came with a spare engine. The spare engine as been sitting on my lock-up floor for quite some time and is getting in my way so I'm looking to relocate it onto an engine stand. I've aquired a stand from my work (found it dismantled behind a load of racking - nobody knew why it was there or what it was so I luckily got it FOC) and have it assembled and ready to be put to use. Here lies my problem. There were no bolts provided with the spare enigne and after checking the manaul came to the conclusion that the bolts were all M12; (items 26 and 27 below) ![]() ![]() But when I offered up a M12 bolt to the tapped holes of the block I had no luck at all in getting them in. Can anyone confirm that the pitch of the thread is of these bolts? I'm guessing they could well be fine thread. I was thinking that perhaps the threads had just galled up and would need tapped but I'm not wanting to try that until I've confirmation of the pitch as I've only got a M12 course tap at the moment. Cheers, Gavin. |

Yup they're fine thread. I had to buy 2 longer bolts to get mine on the stand as the top two are quite short due to the shape of the bellhousing. I also had to pad the top bolts out with some extra washers. |
