Post subject: | Not always an expensive repair |
Just removed the drivers side seat today, as ever since I've owned the car, the so called 8 way electric movement, has always been six way, with no apparent function on the front 'up/down' part of one of the two four way switches on the side of the seat. Once the seat was removed from the car, there seemed to be nothing obvious with the switch itself, but looking at the conectors at the motors themselves, there was one cable broken away from the tag, and as I moved the loom to have a closer look, the other side also broke away from the conector!, it appears the wiring is very stiff to the motor tags, and over the years, metal fatigue and vibration take their toll on the crimped on tags, fitted new soldered conectors, and voila! an eight way electric seat!! good afternoons work..... oh also found 17 cents in Singapore currency under the carpet, which confirms the history of the cars origin, being imported back into the UK in 1999. |

Always good when what looks like a complicated fault seems to have a simple fix! Especially effectively a free one ![]() If I can suffer the embarrassment I'll relate the repair that I've been doing today later ![]() |
