£350 for this early square dash 944 must be worth a punt for someone . If I had my own off road parking I'd have it myself for that money . Its not far from where i live so could go and look at it if interested .http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/porsche-944/75909741

Umm I think the fact it mentions very little about the car as regards belts etc. & also has these magic words :-
Most of the body work is in good condition
Requires some TLC

Worries me a tad...............

Concours, evidently!

If it was near, I'd buy it, it'd break for way more than the sale price.

Thats what i was thinking . Trailer it away for £300 and worse case scenario break it to recoup at least twice that . Wasn't really suggesting it would be good to go as a daily drive . I'm already taking up 2 car park spaces out of 10 for a block of 18 flats so don't think my neighbours would appreciate me using a 3rd space to pull apart a car ! I've e mailed the guy asking for more info so we'll see what comes back .

Would make a good track car if the engine's sound.

I'm saying no more than that as I should be getting on with fixing my own money pit 944 :D

Well i went to view the car at the weekend . Nice couple who own the vehicle which had previously belonged to the woman's late father for 6 years. It's had 13 previous owners and been stood outside for 3 + years without being used other than shunted back and forth every so often . Its not been mot'd for those 3 years , there's no history save for a few old mot certificates , it has damage to the front wing where a truck backed into it , no battery , the immobiliser fob has been lost so it won't start , the boot lock is seized and i had to crawl over the back seats to get in the luggage compartment , all the tyres are shot and the "doom" blue paint is flat . It hadn't even had a bucket of water chucked over it ! So obviously i walked away ........... oh hang on , thats not what happened at all  Offered £275 agreed on £300 and trailering it back to mine tomorrow :) .
Now , i might have made a massive mistake , i don't have much mechanical knowledge and i've probably spent too much time watching wheeler dealers but the car seems to be an honest warts and all example . It's never been a write off , the sills are solid with no bubbling on the outside (not looked inside the b piller though) , all the panels are straight apart from the front wing , the interior is in good nick , it comes with a spare set of very tidy 15" teledials all with nearly full tread on the tyres , alpine stereo , original porsche tool kit , sunroof bag , luggage blind , spare back seat and a collectors guide book to the porsche 924 and 944 range !
Due to the previously mentioned parking problems i can't keep the car for long so it'll be sold on again soon . However, if i could at least get it running , tidied and maybe even in for an mot that would be great and will have potentially saved another 944 from a premature , undignified demise . If not then at least i've given it a go and it'll need to be sold as a non runner and hopefully bought by someone with the skills and space to sort it . Just hope that my neighbours don't kick off in the meantime

Good work. Sounds like it's in better condition than my 83 944 when I got it.

Hopefully it won't require anything near the amount of work mine has had thrown at it so far and it'll be back on the road quickly and easily.
