Help!, can anyone suggest where I can go to get this sorted:

My tailgate motor is working, but the small rotating arm that levers the cable has snapped, i did purchase a replacement motor just for this arm but guess what....i snapped it! it seems to be a weakness part as its only cast.
these small arms are murder to get and to be honest I just want it sorted now, as I also need the cable replacement that triggers the lock, so can anyone suggest where I can take it where it could be repaired at a SENSIBLE cost, I live in Bristol so anywhere near or in a reasonable radius would be fine
thanks in advance

As a temporary fix on my car I made a lever out of flat bar which I fixed to the motor shaft using the original arm fixing (the bit that doesn't snap off and has a paer to hold it tight to the shaft. You need to make sure this is held tight to the motor shaft so it can not be too thick or there isn't enough thread to tighten the nut onto and then you need to fix a small 3/4" ish bolt onto the end of the lever with a couple of nuts at the top to loosely hold the loop on the boot release cable but still allow it to spin freely. I used the style of steel bracket you usually get when you fit a none standard audio device i.e. flat and thin but strong enough not to bend easily with holes pre-drilled along the length, I just cut it to lenght about 1 1/2" and used one hole for the motor fixing and the other to attach the cable loop, it worked fine for years and I only changed it last year when I got a replacement motor with a good lever. After all you don't see it behind the carpet.
