Whats involved in upgrading to better front brakes on a 944.

My 944 has 15 inch teledial wheels and its a 944-S 16v model.

What callipers will be an upgrade over the standard fittment?

EG 944 S2 front callipers - are they better than 944-s?
Or 944 turbo?
968 - what front callipers do they have.

And will any upgraded callipers fit with the standard 15" wheels?

Mine has S2 callipers all round. At the front you need the hubs, discs, carriers, callipers etc. so easier to get 2 complete struts & swap on to it.
At the back you need discs & callipers. For front & back you will almost certainly need new flexi hoses & possibly new brake lines to them. You deffo need 16" wheels, 15s will not fit & don't forget to swap the spacesaver! I did

Or u can run 996 brakes up front, boxster /S brakes with the calipers brakcts sold at the Porsche shop. But I'm sure u could get them made up. Not 2 sure if a different brake slave cycliner would be need?

NO brake slave cylinders on a 944! I think you mean master. S2 brakes have the advantage that the front to back brake bias stays OK. Although the S2 has a limiter & different plumbing, mine is OK with the standard late 2.5 m/cyl. Bare in mind that all the later brakes need more maintenance, such as plate lift issues.

Yeah, sorry that's what I ment. As by later issues thats all 4 pot brakes including s2? I thought the plate lift was less likely on 996? Something I had read, not sure if its true.
