Hi All

It seems my CV joints are on their way out.

I'm looking to buy a pair of drive shafts including joints, boots etc.

1987 2.5 944 lux

Cheers

Nice one!

Any idea how many miles they've done?

How much do you want for them?

No idea but they look intact and didn't seem to have much play in them, you can inspect if you want. £50 the pair.

Just as advisory I'd wash through & put fresh grease in before fitting s/h ones. Also the bolts are stretch bolts & should be replaced when changing them. You'll need some carb or brake cleaner to wash the bolts out BEFORE trying to undo otherwise you'll deffo knacker the bolts.

dj - sorry for late reply mate.

I've just discovered I don't have the correct tool to remove the driveshafts.

I'm now also wondering if the noise is something else, as I've just been out for a spin (while the car was cold) and I didn't hear any noises at all.

I've put the question out on my other thread - click click clicking.

But otherwise, £50 is fine.

Jim - thanks for the good advice mate. I've had a look underneath to check if I have the correct tool and I don't. But I see what you mean about the dirt in the bolts and I should imagine (after 24 yrs) they will be tricky to undo.

I've got the right tool; most car accessory shops will have them - cheese head or triple square splined bits; I had them here already having needed them for another car I had years ago. As for them being difficult, I didn't have any problem undoing them from the car I had, but then your mileage can vary on things like that. They are decent-quality fasteners though so shouldn't be too bad, hopefully.
