i am going to get the promax stage 2 upgrade kit,

anyone fitted this kit or parts of it ?

any advice on issues that might come up when fitting ?

I've got the Lindsey wastegate, 3 bar FPR, a Forge recirc valve and a different boost controller (electronic)

The wastegate was the biggest pain to fit, as it ment lying on my back on the garage floor, swearing everytime I snaped on of the bolts on the exhaust. The only problem other than that I remember is getting to the bolt on the bracket that holds the wastegate to the torque tube. I eventually took the existing wastegate off with the bracket attached and the exhaust pipe upto the first joint (about a foot long). Putting the new wastegate on was a bit easier but the annodised top gets a bit close to the bulk head so you'll have assemble it all and the mess about positioning it before you tighten up all the bolts. I got a new set of all the crush rings, the one on the exhaust fell out in about 10 pieces and made sure the vaccum tubing is well away from the exhaust manifold. I also used briaded hose from the head down just incase the silcone hose got hot or any oil on it.

The 3 Bar FPR was easy, just make sure you have plenty of rags around to soak up the fuel that gets spilt.

The recirc valve should only take you 5 mins to fit. I notice in the photo the hose fitting goes straight up. I've seen a Bailey valve fitted like this and the vaccum hose was hitting the bonnet and putting a kink in it. A 90 degree fitting from Pirtek solved this.

The plumbing on my boost controller was fairly easy. I replaced all the vaccum tubing and used the diagrams on lindsey Racing's website to put it all back together. I'd guess the only problem you'll have is knowing where to set the manual controller to get the boost you want. I think an after market boost gauge is a must. I'm guessing it's just a bleed valve so I'd start with it closed and open it a little bit at a time until you get to the level you want.

do you know what bhp was to your actual car ?

Hi , i've fitted this kit to my turbo with no major problems to note, although it was a couple of years ago now so .....

I do seem to remember the wastgate with all the bits of exhaust down there being a bit fiddly.

I also seem to remember that there was not enough pipe to fit the adjuster in dash, i fitted mine to a plate i made to go in the position of the junk pocket below the radio. I also fitted a boost gauge next to it, and an air/fuel ratio meter.

Mine now makes 350BHP , i have the printout to prove it. :shock:

I should probably turn the boost down a bit , but you only live once........... :D

Buy new crush rings and gaskets before trying to change the wastegate, mine has Lyndsey race chipset, Tial Wstgate, adjustable boost valve, 3 bar fpr, Bailey Recirculating DV with the 90 degree top fitting, silicon vacuum hoses, racelogic boost gauge.
Bum dyno says at least 300 bhp.
220 being done shortly !

I'm running about 1.2 bar max boost, but not had it on a rolling road since all the bits and pieces were filled. It's a 250 turbo so I'm guessing it's around the 300bhp mark now. It was noticably much faster afterwards and quite a bit thirstier, but that might be because of my right foot. :D

i put mine on the rolling road because , obviously i was wondering what power i was getting , but just as important to me was to check it wasn't running lean , as i didn't want to do any damage, the kit from Promax was perfect in that there was a nice smooth line for the Air/Fuel ratio, i soon after fitted a lambda sensor and digital gauge, but that hops about a bit too quick to be of any use really , and besides that i daren't take my eyes off the road , if you know what i mean........ :shock:
