Post subject: | Belt Tools |
I have a bit of noise coming from the front of the S2 especially when the car is cold and worse with a bit of revs. I have decided to have a crack at checking/re-tensioning the balance shaft and (maybe) cam belt. Can anyone confirm the tools needed for this? I believe I need a krikit and a thin 27mm wrench. Will any wrench do or is it best to go for one specifically designed e.g. arnnworx? Is there anywhere in the UK to get these? Cheers, Mike |

Mike, for the cost of the tools, I'd suggest trying to get a hold of Alastair ( Sulzeruk ) or coming to the monthly meet in Bo'ness. It really is a friendly night. The local RO ( Flash Gordon ) would loan you the tools and it can be checked in the car park, he has gave up smoking and needs to kept occupied. Then you've seen it done and can try it yourself at your leisure. Failing that a quick visit to Brian Miller in Edinburgh will get it checked. |

Hi Lee. I visited Alasdair a while back and he helped out with a few jobs on the car (thanks again). Also I have been to one of the meets but not for a while and do intend to go when I get a chance next. Also had the car at Brian Millar's a few times and would definitely recommend him to anyone in the Edinburgh area. Anyway at the moment the car is more of a hobby so I am keen to do as many jobs myself as possible. The krikit tool does not seem to expensive ($20) but I would imagine the proper Porsche tool is. The sites that I have seen these tools on are arnnworx and rennbay, both in America. Is there anywhere in the UK? |
