When I bought my car, it had a set on non standard Milla Miglia 17" alloys on.
These really did modernise the look of the car, but i always knew that these were not standard and also were not made by Porsche. They also weighed a ton.
Over the last year, i have been scouring ebay for a set of relatively rare 16" 944 turbo teledials. Last summer i drove from my home in Swindon to Ipswich to collect a set and after the 15 minutes or so i spent with the seller, drove straight back again. Seven and a half hours continues driving was not fun.
More recently, i managed to find a set of tyres for these wheels. These are continental and N1 - Porsche approved.

Today, my wife (thanks love) and i managed to change them over. Some before and after shots....

So this is how the car would have looked as it left the factory. To be honest, i am not sure if i like it. The clearance between the alloy and the brake calliper is tiny. This is normal as i have seen a few cars like this.

What do you guys think?

Perhaps the car needs lowering now? Anyone know how to do this without putting bags of sand into the boot?

I think it looks great. You might think it looks different now, but it will when you study the before and after pictures together, if you know what I mean? Looks original.

I love teledials, think they looks spot on. Stay with them, I'm sure they'll grow on you.

By coincidence, saw this on tinterweb earlier today - http://web.archive.org/web/200412152007 ... &id=62&c=4

Hope it helps?

Cheers

Much better Rav.
Note folded in mirrors - more use required!! (although mine hasn't covered more than 10 yds in the last month)

They really are a distinct improvement - you could have Imperial tyres (local geo place)lower them to the limits of the current the suspension and/or change the front springs to lower it.

Sorry but I'm the odd one out on this one. I like the D90's but I've never been fond of the teledials. They look right if you are trying for the proper period look but my preference is the post 88 look.

There the wrong way around. I hate teledials. Never did look good. They were dated when they came out. More 70's than 80's. But it's your car so what you like is what counts! How do you find the handling on the 16's? And what rubber do you have on them? :)

I preferred the ones you started with! And the ride height looks ok on them.

The car left the factory at that height, with those wheels. If you lower it I don't see the point in the tele's (and your long search) as it's not original anyway!!

I'm with DaveM on this one, prefer the newer OE turbo wheels. A set of CS rims would set it off nicely with turbo D90's next!

I can't say I like either set up to be honest. Although, the teledials look a lot better than the twists.
Porsche don't seem to make many nice looking wheels. Although, I would conceed that the 19" Carrera sports as offered as an upgrade for the current 997 look pretty awesome - don't think they would suit a 944, though.

The trend for later 80's cars did tend towards "not a lot" in terms of offset e.g D90's - but then they don't look great either.
What about a set of 928 alloys polished to a mirror finish?

I'm a fan of the teledials, I was a long time fan of 5-spokes so bought the 16" cup narrow spoke for mine, but im seriously thinking if getting some 16" teles now. to me they suit the car better than anything else. To me D90s look really bland and flat and 17"s including those twists look too modern. just goes to show ;)

its on the teles now which i might put winter tyres on once ive bought some decent tyres for the cups.

Teledials are cool, i am dropping the back on mine, 2 bolts on the rear swinging arm, one locks and one adjusts by about 20 mm, stick with them, i have added 10mm spacers on the back.

On the wheels front, I prefer the wheels you had on first - although the teledials are clearly more original, I prefer the looks of the other wheels.

Frenchy - check the code, I think, you can edit it so it doesn't have a load of messed up IMG tags in it, then they should work OK.
