I went to look at two exceptional 944s today and bought one! :)

I've bought a early dash car made in 1983, in beautiful shiny black paintwork and on 15" Fuchs alloys - question is do I get some minilites?? ;)

Not really got many jobs to do on it and it is one of the two best 944s that I have ever driven (and I've driven a few ;))

Picking it up on Tuesday, pictures to follow!

No, keep the Fuch's. I'll never change mine. I love them. Dark dark blue with a polished rim! Best looking wheels on a 944, ever.

Fuchs do look the buisness. I had them on my Karmann Ghia when i bought it, but sold them for cup 2's as ever KG has them fitted lol.

In my mind the best wheels for a 944 would be a set of gasburners, especially on a black one, never seen it done though....

I was looking at gasburners, when I started the wheel quest! :)

I find polished wheels hard to look after and hate washing cars - more time driving the better :D So thats why I fancy minilites rather than the Fuchs!

May put my Fondmetals on it for a bit! :)

Don't think the fondmetals will fit the early car, early cars had offset et 23, oval dash had offset et 52

I thought the late offset started when the ABS cars came in?

It should be from the start, but worth remembering that ABS was an optional extra until '89, mine is an 88 registered 87 car, and while the fittings are all there the car doesn't have ABS.

Snap Mine is an 87 car but no ABS.

All the best with the new '44 Pixie! I wish you many happy miles of motoring. Get the Fucks painted & polished. There the business. Shame they don't fit my car or I would have a set. I hate teledials. :)

I do like the Fuchs, a part of me says keep them for best and buy a set of minilites for winter / daily running about!

If they fit, I'm not sure if I'd like the Fondmetals too ... can't have three sets of wheels for one car though.

JJ - I had teledials on my first 944, they were OK but "OK" being the word, don't think they looked anything special.

When did ABS become an option? My oval dash car is a 1985.5 car. I thought ABS was an option from 1987 and it was then the wheel offset changed? Up until 1987, I didn't think you could spec ABS on a 944 and therefore early oval dash cars are early offset???

Looking forward to picking it up on Tuesday :D

Aren't the Fuchs meant to be desirable and worth something nowadays? You could probably sell them to some VW nut for half of what you paid for your car - I don't know what that is but you get my drift.

I don't know about selling them or not, I was considering that. Don't know what to do, I like them ... I just *hate* washing cars and polishing wheels, then again I'd like to keep it original.

They aren't worth anywhere near half what I paid for the car, though!
