Happy New Year All good start and then went to fire up the 944 to find it was making a clicking sound every couple of seconds. I tried unlocking it wit the fob then key nothing. the noise then stop. Dead Battery. 2 weeks old v good quality fully charged before putting in. So help please, any tips on how to get some power into the thing to get the car unlocked??? |

Someone asked this a couple of weeks ago??? I think they said put 12v between the chassis and the live on the starter motor, you can reach it if you jack it up ( and put axle stands under it for elf and safety ). But I might be wrong??? I've had a few tonight?? |

There is a post under the bonnet, connect 12v to this which will give you power to open the boot & jump the car. It is located in the scuttle area, drivers side, usually has a blue cap which unscrews. Connect +12v to this & -12v to somewhere in the engine bay. |

However, the key 'should' still open the door lock, even with a flat battery. Maybe I should have read the OP's post properly first. |

Thanks, sadly locked out of all doors with after market central locking upgrades and flashing door locking things. Will get trolley jack and axle stands out and have a go to the starter. y only worry was if the key isn't in the ignition part turned won't this be a dead circuit???? just listening to IQ stunning prog rock band. All help much appreciated. With all the snow since late November bonding rather stopped with the 944 before Christmas and this has stopped it since. Work has meant this is an issue from more than a week ago. |

Not meaning to point out the obvious, but when you do this be really careful that the +ve connection you put onto the starter connection is on the correct post (there are often two on solenoids, you want the one which goes to the battery cable, NOT to the starter), and also that the connection isn't going to ground out on any part of the starter motor or body - you'll be connecting the battery directly to it, and if it does short out it could get messy. I'd also make those connections under the car first, and then connect the cables to the battery when you're no longer underneath it, just in case. If you're careful, there won't be any problems, though. |

Good advice and very timely. Got my man Dave over, superb, yes you are right, get it wrong and car runs off the jack if in gear, I always leave the car in neutral. got it open, but the Yusa battery brought approx 5 weeks ago completely dead and shorted. not chuffed, will find receipt and get a refund. sadly needed a battery asap to move car, and halfords only optional 7pm, so £105 lighter, plus £80 for the 1st replacement. anyway took it for a drive, rear nearside 10psi, front 8psi, put in some air and filled up with 103ron fuel from local garage just in. went damn well afterwards, took 9000 their shortly after and filled that up as well. he he. anybody tried B&Q decking heater fuel? Discussed getting a exterior power terminal somewhere should it happen again, maybe around a side light. any thoughts from others much appreciated. |

There's bugger all underneath the things at the back. What about running an insulated terminal down there somewhere? Wouldn't be too hard routing a cable on an oval dash or newer car since the battery lives behind the n/s wheel arch. Infact, I think there may even be a grommit in the wheel pocket you could pass a cable through to save drilling holes? |

Before its on there too long, check how much current is being drawn from the battery when the car is stood and nothing is turned on - easily done with a multimeter by disconnecting the earth terminal and putting it in series (with the meter on the current setting). Make sure you turn off any interior lights etc before doing this and see what figure you come up with. |
