Lucky me! The sum of the mechanical damage is one bent off-side steering arm. This will arrive and be changed tomorrow and the tracking done. That's it, the rest is cosmetic but there are a few parts that he's going to list so that I can source them. Here's what I can remember him telling me - Definites to put it as it was - Near side fog/driving light lens Off side wing inner arch plastic liner thing A few nuts and bolts. To fully restore it - A replacement front off-side wing A replacement bonnet ... and a respray! Imagine what it would have been like in one of those modern Euro-boxes. |

Good news. Wing doesn't look bad from the pics. If theres no rust I'd have it beaten out. Respray should be glass out & thats big money. But will be pretty when it's done. ![]() |

JJ maybe right on that one. Given as good wings are hard to find it might be worth seeing if it can be beaten out and filled. Good news that it wasn't too serious. |

The wing is very bad at the bottom and I have been looking for one for ages. Fortunately it was going to be replaced anyway - 'fortunately' in that there are no newly dented panels. The bonnet still has the dent in it from when the hoody in Wythenshawe threw a brick up it. I have recently sourced a Cobalt Blue one - haven't bought it yet though - another job for next week! The glass was to come out because the hoody's brick also went up the windscreen and scratched it so it needs replacing or the scratches polishing out (you can't tell unless I point it out to you), and there is some bubbling along the top of the screen. The last 'glass out' complete re-spray was done at the official Porsche repair centre - LLoyds Autobody near Manchester Airport - cannot recommend them at all. I have never been happy with the quality of the work, especially as it started showing some bubbling after about twelve months or so. It took them thirteen weeks to do the complete job - but it isn't 13 weeks of quality, if you know what I mean. Water leak - I saw some water leaking, but Stewart hasn't seen it. Maybe it was just because it had been ticking over for over half an hour when it was pulled onto the truck. He has said that the oil cooler has been twisted and that it may be worth looking for a replacement in the future. I'll see what it's like when I go up there tomorrow, and if it needs replacing now I'll have it done. |
