Post subject: | Happy days, the MOT was a breeze |
I brought my first Porsche in March of this year. Being on a major budget I brought the best I could get for my money with the expectations that things would break or fail in time regardless. The old 944 S2 is nearly 20 years old after all. Been working on repairing the bottoms of the wheel arches for some time having replaced the rusted parts with new metal. Just having trouble spraying them in but it is coming on. So I was nervous about the MOT but the guy who did it (Tiddington Garage in Oxfordshire) was amazed at how good a condition the car was in given it's age and millage (all 127 thousand of them). I have a sticking passenger window though and took the door apart after the MOT to lubricate it. It made a small difference but is still not great. Does anyone else have this problem (and a solution). Also when I checked my wipers for the MOT the motor makes an awful squealing sound so I lubricated this too. The squealing stopped but when you turn the wipers on they now squeal for about a minute then it stoppes. Could be something seizing up maybe? I didn't realise until recently as I always use RainEx and have never had to put my wipers on once yet. Apart from that all is well. I'm driver her to Spain this year so have a few things to do still. New discs and pads and a caliper overhaul, new rear shocks and they are quite literally shocking and I hope to have the wheels refurbished too. They don't need it but I am pedantic. Any way just wanted to relay my good MOT news and see if anyone else has similar issues with the windows and wipers on their 944 S2? Merry new year all. |

Cheers for the reply J.J. My biggest concern is the motor being under too much stress and burning out or just failing. I'll try your dabbing technique and see how that goes. I'll read up on taking the wiper motors apart then and see what the plot is in there too. I want to try and save parts rather than just replacing as my poor old bank balance doesn't much like owning a Porsche.Sadly for the bank though I do and I win so she is staying. Happy new year all. |
