Hi, I am coinsidering purchasing a performance chip for my 944S2, I have taken the housing apart to find out to install and it all appears to be quite straight forward, but I would appreciate some feedback as to whether you think (a) Im doing the right thing and (b) if I am to get one what do you recommend to be the best one to buy. If you can give me anymore info on this suibject I would be really gratefull, cheers guys Simon |

If you do a search you will see that this topic has been done to death. My advice is your wasting your money. Only a dyno remap will make a real difference & check that everything is as it should be. Injectors clean etc. Theres only one guy who knows these cars & thats Wayne Scholfield Costs double the chip but actually works! Not massive gains on an S2 but worth it in my book. Others will disagree. I knew it. Trouble is when you plug a chip in your assuming that everything is as it should be. It very rarely is! |

I think that the Promax chip is fairly widely regarded as a resonable upgrade for the money (less than £100 I believe). There are not massive gains to be made with a N/A car, but the chips generally take out the flat spots that the manufacturers build in to improve emissions at certain speeds. I personally don't think that the extra cost of a rolling road custom set up is worthwhile on an otherwise standard car. |

I would agree I fitted a Promax chip on my S2 bought from a member unused but secondhand for £50 and it certainly has improved the responsiveness and smoothed out the flat spots, not too bothered about the overall HP increase if any if I was I would have bought a Turbo, like stated N/A cars are limited in what can be achieved without big money, probably a sports exhaust/de-cat, chip and making sure everything else is tip top such as ignition and timing. Better to improve the handling or at least get it back to where it was 20 years ago than try to get too many horses out of it. Think the Promax chip is well respected and thought of and I think Simon is right costs around £90-100 plus there service is very good. |

thanx guys, the car runs like a dream as it is so I reckon following your advice I will just leave it, it really is quite responsive anyway, I only wondered if it was worth it, but think I wont bother now. |
