The car went into the bodyshop at the beginning of the year for a detailed inspection of the sills and wing bottoms. There was no visible rust externally although there was a small amount internally within the sills but nothing to get excited about.

At the same time, the bodyshop were fitting 968 mirrors and handles. Also, I had new hinges for the drivers door to resolve the annoying degree of "play" which resulted in a slight drop.

Once the sill trim was removed it was evident that the wing bottoms were corroded although thankfully the rest of the sills were solid and no repairs were needed although they've been pumped full of stuff. New wing bottoms were fabricated and welded into place. The sills were to be repainted and generally the paintwork would stop at the lower half of the door.

Unfortunately, the gaskets on the flag mirrors had been painted at some point so, when removed, there was some damage to the upper door paintwork. With more money than sense and after much "coming and going", I ended up instructing a few respray. The paintwork wasn't actually bad to begin with (although the rear of the car was abit "swirly") but I was more worried about painting some areas of the car and not others.

Ended up also getting new stoneguards, decals, badges, sunroof seal, door seals and finished off the new look with some Forged CS wheels. The rubber seals/gaskets still have that new look about them but I'm very happy with the finished result.

I've spent alot of money on this work but I'm taking a long term view. I won't be selling it so I'm doing everything for one person only..... me!

Very nice, hope u can't keep it in such great shape while keeping ur insanely

I recently had my car fully resparyed from red 2 black. And iv found the paint 2 be very troublesome when washing and with bird poo and stone chips, Not sure if my lacquer is unusually soft. But I would recommend taking as much care as possible. New cloths when washing. Been black and now very very shiny. It don't take much 2 see the tiny marks created and caused from washing the car. Bird poo can leave slight halos. I found a really hot cloth appiled as soon as possible and don't try 2 aggravate the poo when removing.

Looks very tidy.

Might be worth whipping off those side repeater lenses and giving them a light dusting with satin black paint from the inside. - Just enough to blend them into the wings a bit.

Looks very nice. I think you may have motivated me to get the 968 handles fitted that have been sitting in the garage for about a year and sort some mirrors out.

Looks great. I do like the clear front indicators and side repeaters.

I would recommend some of Ben's foglight protectors to protect the expensive lenses.

I have them on my car (as do others on the TIPEC forum) and you cannot see them when they are fitted so there is no distraction from the clean lines of your car.

She looks lovely on the outside so maybe you should consider the inside. If you have leather seats you could
get them re-sprayed. Have you checked the alarm to see if that's up the scratch? Trolley jacks are useful for
getting the wheels of for a good clean, so I've been told.

I'm guessing u got a new bonnet badge, the newer style with the black
Script goes really well with black paint work. And u could get some clear lenses 4 the rear as well.

Nice styling tweaks there. I always think teardrop mirrors will make your car stand out in a field full of 944's.

Front splitter next perhaps?

Ben :bounce:
