Yes, exactly. Or buy the OEM seal thing from Porsche that is supposed to be there but rarely is.

I used silicon on mine and it worked a treat. Make sure you get plenty in and don't leave any gaps!

Un less u have somewere dry and shealted 4 a few days stat well clear off bathroom sealcone. I did mine it rain and made a right mess twice! Get some quick curing stuff 4 windscreens from halfords will take about 30mins instead off a day and half for silcone.

If u do find ur self in troble, a few pillows on the hacth and 2 micro colths over the light should help keep th water off.

What everyone else said about the sealant....I couldn't work out why the bulbs kept blowing and put the condensation on them down to the fact that the hatch seal had only recently been replaced and the boot hadn't been dried-out properly. In fact, they were almost floating in water it was so full in each of the light rectangles. Had to take the whole lamp off to dry it our properly - a kitchen towel and hairdryer job!

I also read that the hatch pin locator seals can be a source of water getting into the tail light so it might be worth looking at them and either replacing them or putting some sealant on the edges to ensure its water-tight. I used black gutter sealant on mine as its "rubberised" and flexible and it worked a treat.

Yep, the catch pit under the LOcK PINs do get block up over time, and the water collect here b4 it can get 2 the pipe. mainly cas people grease the mechanism thinking there bearing, there plastic. The lock mechanism needs 2 be striped down and flushed out that's all, shouldn't need replacing. The locks are a set side and will only unlock on the side they were removed. I replaced the bolts that hold it all together, mine were flush mounted and coulor coded. I got theses from b and q, 10 or 12mm, 80mm long, round philps head

When I first got my current 924, one of the tail lights was full of water, the other wasn't. On closer inspection, the one without any water in it had a tiny hole drilled in the bottom corner of the lens. Guess how I cured the other one?

The Porsche sealer is very like Blue tak. Just buy it cheap in home bargains & roll it into a sausage. Silicon works but you will never get the lights out again if you need to without breaking them.

Siliconed lights can definitely be removed without breakage. Might bring some paint with them but def not break!

My 944S was the same, I heated a small safety pin and pierced a small hole at the bottom of the other lamp, hole not even noticable and desired results

This is how I found out I had water in my rear lights.

One night I was driving through a particularly large council estate in South Manchester, going really slowly because of all the speed bumps, admiring all the floral tributes tied to the many trees where the joy riders had parked their stolen cars, when I became aware of the big BMW police car behind me. I carried on over a few more speed bumps doubting they would do me for going too slow, and then on went the flashing blue lights so I pulled over. There was a rather attractive policewoman driving (there's something about the uniform and the blonde pony tails that makes it worth breaking the law  ) and a policeman in the passenger seat. I wound down the window, and in my best Cheshire accent asked how I could help him. He leaned over and said "Your rear off-side light has got water in it, I can see it splashing about when you go over a speed bump".

How nice. I assume he must have been another fan of the old Porsches.

Anyway, I discovered that the trail of water into the lights came from worn out lock pin locating hole seals. Two new ones from Porsche and job done - although they are a pig to fit!

Easier to fit the pin seals into the bodywork if you give them a good coating of soap solution they slide in real easy although it does make a mess of your hands.
