Unfortunately I found it's the plastic tanks that let down the design of the radiator. All aluminium racing radiators are available, but at £450 I couldn't justify it!

I went cheapskate with a used EBAY replacement Alex. All 80's plastic tank rads must be getting suspect now...mine had a stress fracture that could only be seen once the rad was out.

Replaced the air filter which didn't look like it had been done for many many years and the car seems much perkier for it. Also re sealed one of the rear light clusters to make it watertight. Took it off and found what looked like blue tack sealing it before! Didn't take long and a pretty easy fix. Used some 8mm body panel sealant cord. Just the other one to do and I will be watertight for the winter.

Put a set of boge shocks on the rear, what a difference it makes. My car is clearly a tired old girl! Every new bit gives me another 50% :D

Fitted 968 mirror to my S2 to find that the mirror base is LHD and 968 door handle, now the door won't open. GF said if it ain't broke don't fix it. Just the help I needed.
Got new bases off ebay and intend to take the door glass out so I can actually see what is going on. What joy, what fun.

Took the door glass out and the rear guide to access lock. Popped the door open and adjusted the length of the operating rod, success. Glass back in after 2 hrs, having a cig. and a coffee before I stick the door panel back on.
To those who fancy trying this mod I would advise doing it by the book i.e. take the glass out, still a pain but easier in the long run and not as frustrating.

Went for a drive - left house at 10ish and up the road for a coffee breakfast, then onwards on our great roads. Two pics quickly shot...

It must have been at least 28-30degs but the oil pressure sat at 4.5 to 5.0 all the way. Driving speed approx. 140ks. My thermo switch failed a few months back and I replaced the switch and the stat with a 'high temp' combo, so the rad temp sits around the 1/4 on the dial (sourced from the US) - so much ideal for country driving. Also decent % coolant in the radiator is a must...

Got it back from paint shop today. O/S rear quarter, scene of repair years ago, bit of metal cut out and replaced, quarter painted. Wing mirror painted and scabby stone ship on N/S replaced and painted, metal all good underneath! Car all polished and looking a million dollars, not a bit of imperfection anywhere! Was near dark when collected, pics to follow! :D
