Hi all

Some nice cars in here...I noticed though that you UK guys are not very keen on lowering your cars to a reasonable level :albino:

Here's mine:

Hi Beni, I think that there are a few lowered 944s about in the U.K., but I think that most U.K. 944 owners prefer to keep their 944s original spec.

My 944 isn't lowered, but with 18" alloys & a front splitter fitted, I think it's low enough as it is. If I go down a steep ramp the splitter can touch the ground and if my 6 year old daughter sits in the back the rear tyres will rub the arches if I go over a speed bump too quick.

Here's another pic of mine. I'm sure you'll agree that it looks low enough as it is?

I see...speed bumps :albino:

To be honest, also the blue 951 (which I really like btw) looks a bit like an "offroader" to me...especially as it is fitted with 18 inch wheels...I always consider lowering as a must if you fit larger diameter wheels to a car, not only on a 951 but also a 964 C2 or a 993 C2.

Additionally I have been told by two engineers that lowering a car for 30mm would decrease the drag factor for approximately 8%
So, I'm quite efficient lowering my 951 for 80mm's twisted:

Cheers

Beni

It's not a 951 (turbo), it's a 944 S2, but thanks all the same. It just wouldn't be practicle to have it lowered, especially as it's my daily driver. :thumbright:

Hello all,

Thought I'd post a piccy of my Turbo SE.

I bought it about a year ago now and my intention is to modify it to go as fast as I can! So far there's been very little done but an uprated wastegate and electronic boost controller is being fitted now, which hopefully will give it about 300bhp.

Very nice. You should get the turbo graphic along the top of the front wing reinstated.

Are you planning on turning it in to a track day car, street racer or street sleeper?

2 of the 3, it's a bit beyond a sleeper with a Porsche badge!

I've always been into making my cars go faster and never really bothered about making it look any different. Although I must admit to being tempted by a set of 18" wheels and 968 mirror and handles. I am planning on a few track days but it has an oil leak I can't find the source of and I'll need to fix that first. I'm trying to convince myself it's not the rear crank seal.

Yeah, I agree, you can't really have a street sleeper with a Porsche badge. What I was trying to describe in as little words as possible was a 944 without any styling mods, but plenty of hidden power under the hood.

It's a bit of a red rag to a bull, this pictures thread... I went to costa for a coffee today and got a parking space outside. It was quite funny watching all the people rubbernecking as they walked passed. The chap operating the CCTV was quite interested too 'cos the camera kept stopping on it for ages like in that Pug advert.. :D

Impossible here. We have potholes 4" deep as well as the speed humps. Lots of us here enjoy messing under the bonnet though. Even the Lux responds well to modernisation.

It's not too bad. For a car that's pushing twenty years old, it's pretty tidy. Cosmetically It's getting to the state it was in before the P.O. abused it for several years and then left it in his gardedn for a couple more.
