Very nice work Darryl..great photos too. I often wondered how people approached the reshaping of the wings to fit the 'proper' S2 bumper. This is a job that I will be doing next year as part of an on-going restoration and face-lift to my 944S. Presently it has a fibreglass replica S2 bumper fitted, but I am not too impressed with that as it keeps cracking. Seeing how your project is shaping up has been revealing! Keep up the good work and photos.. :D

Thank you Rhett :)

We've just gone on advise from a few people and then kind of done it our own way.

We put masking tape on the bumper and shaded the curve of it in and then took it off the bumper and put it on the wing to give us the line to cut. It worked really well for us and tidying up with the file gave us the better curve :) just take your time and it'll be fine!

Great work :) I love how easy the front end and wings come off these cars but re shaping those wings looked tricky.

Are you painting the whole car or just the new bits

Paint still looks good on head lights and badge pannle. Looks good, I used the turbo light plugs when I did mine. But you sorted that out. Do you need to adjuset the angle off your head light pods? I need to.

Did you delete the head light washers? I did on the bumper, spilter still looks great
Iv got a new bonnet badge if your intersted.

I'm debating whether in the long run to replace my front lower spoiler with a 924 Carrera GT version. I like the clean lines of it without the light surrounds. An S2 front would look wrong with my 15 inch fuches.

Took my car to Daytona Coachworks on Friday to have a look at the rust on the sills and rear kidney. They said the rust wasn't bad, especially given the age. Waiting to see what the cost would be. Just want to stop my car deteriorating.

Thanks :) The front end is getting sprayed to match/blended.

Yeah sorted the plugs. The headlight angle needs adjusting on the drivers side but I'll do that when I get it back from paint as everything is put on so it's easy to take off for them at the moment.

The headlight washers I found had already been disconnected and plugged off on mine so I left it as it was.

The badge I'm actually going to keep the original, it's a bit weathered but I quite like that about it.

Sorted out wiper linkage with cable ties until new arrives, its not fun then drivers side wiper dies. In rain, at 1am, 90 miles from house.

Gave a go with smoke tester. I always believed that all leaks been fixed. But no way near it.

Btw, if anyone wants to test their 944, i can do it, probably cheap too

Brewer - I hear you on the wiper linkage, mine failed in the same circumstances on the evening I collected my 944!! I heated up the plastic cup to distort it and has been OK since, but will end up buying new linkage parts or maybe a repair clip.

Today I have fitted some 968 caster blocks (thanks Jim!) and set the caster fully positive for now. Need to get a full alignment done but will wit until I have replaced a few other bits. Had a quick drive, could be placebo or the fact that I had just been driving a ford ranger - but first impressions are that the front end feels a bit tighter with nicer turn in.

Certainly the original ones, although not obviously worn, were very easy to twist with some leverage.

Fitted replacement stainless steel hatch pins. Drove the car tonight. Hatch rattle gone. Very happy bunny.

Only took 25 minutes to replace the pins including cutting off the old pins with a junior hacksaw.

Well worth doing.

I used a shoe lace once to temp fix a wiper, worked so well I left it for 20k miles.

What's the smoke test? Seals or vaccum lines

Feeds smoke to inlet and vacuum system. Mine is even pissing through exhaust gaskets....

Good tools the smoke tester, I was using our big one today on a customers 944 S2 to look for an intake leak as a source of a fluffy idle and idle misses.. Turned out to be leak free, but ultrasonic injector cleaning seemed to do the trick.

Installed a new Bluetooth hands free head unit by Alpine - it's quite good. Then went for a (wet) drive.
