Not sure they are flags, they have a contour in the middle

They are manual mirrors as fitted to some 924's ,944 club sport,944 turbo cup
The housings are the same as mk1 golf gti but the bases are porsche specific .

And the ones I would love on my Turbo. I didn't realise they were Mk1 Golf but it's the bases that are like rocking horse poo! I haven't seen any manual mirrors on any 924's but will start looking for them now.

Also oddly enough the interior controls for them fit beautifully on the late door cards. Rear visibility is good but it would have been better if the mirror was convex but i think that can be sourced from the golf ,also they reflect a lot of light so at night it is a bit bothersome. They are less than half the weight of the flag mirrors.
They are a bit hard to find , a few years ago they were still available from OPC but i don't know now and the right side gasket is definitely NLA . I used a left side gasket on mine , flipped and trimmed it to fit. Uk 924's seem to have come better equipped as standard so most of them have the flag mirrors but in other countries the manual mirrors are more common ,like Germany and especially Italy . So best chance to find a pair is on this site from someone breaking a 924 http://www.subito.it/annunci-lazio-ital ... uto/?q=924 .
CarreraRSR also fitted a pair on his 924 turbo ,i think he sourced them in Germany.

Yep, took 18 months to source my pair, yes the RHS 'desk pad' is NLA and I'm struggling to find a used one. They are also for left hand drive only and why you won't find them on UK 924's (924 Carrera GTS, 944 Turbo Cup etc were LHD only) and our cars came in the most part with Lux packs and therefore with electric flag mirrors. This means that you will not get the correct angle when used on a RHD car. I did try to buy them new and couldn't get a clear answer from my OPC in that I couldn't order them because the were NLA or LHD only or both.

Oh well, I'll go back to trying to modify the existing flag mirrors or some from another car. The closest I've got so far is an Audi Coupe wing mirror. There is no chance I'm getting the Mk1 Golf base plates to fit

What would even be the point in doing something like that ? Just get the 924 ones like we did from Germany or Italy ,they usually go for about 100euro in Italy.

If you can't angle them for a RHD car then it would be worth it or maybe the bases can still be bought from OPC? Then I could just buy some Golf mirrors. I'll get the parts diagram out later.

I am not 100% but I don't think the bases could be bought separately from the mirror casing at OPC. You can adjust the drivers side mirror to just about use, but the passenger side needs the whole upper casing pushed inwards to use. Not sure it will stay there when driving as I blew my engine before I got a chance to trial properly. I have had and still have these mirrors on my ebay search in multiple languages and worldwide availability. They don't come up very often. The last 2 of 3 that were on ebay in the last 18 months are now on my car :D

Been years since I broke up a 924 which had these, and whenever I did they were always chrome on a right hand drive car.. wondering if there is another part number out there for right hand drive chrome metal ones, was still smaller than the usual flags and looked the same as the cup ones.

May need to start doing some digging.

Those cars I typically bought for the manual winders and the mirrors and typically were UK spec cars purchased in Germany by servicemen (which is why they were not lux spec, which was practically compulsory in the uk dealers)
