Well this afternoon I changed my transaxle's oil and added some moly slip resulting in a much smoother and quiter rear  so pleased and it was worth getting soaked finishing it off! Bloody weather.

Bloody weather Too true!
Got to Cadwell 4pm for a Javelin track evening started raining 5:30pm just as we went out on 3 sighting laps.
Decided that was enough (better safe than sorry with this much Torque & Power :) )and drove home in the p....s..g rain. The car went very well though, as it usually does following its Major service at JMG.

Started pulling apart the "new" 924. Body work is definitely beyond mere polishing. Many nuts and bolts are rusted solid. The fun starts here.

Fixed a leaky power steering reservoir hose (return) to find the steering perfect..... Pulled back onto the drive and the bloody cooler section is now leaking
On a positive note I also changed the gear stick and the annoying rattle and sloppiness has gone :D

Changed an indicator bulb and cleaned the lense, quite how it was so dirty inside I don't know! Also cured a power steering fluid dribble from the banjo union on the pump and tidied up the connections onto my oil pressure sender number 3 after yet another new one was playing up. Hopefully that will be me finished playing with oil pressure senders for a bit. Still trying to work out how I'm going to replace my gearbox oil cooler since nobody on the planet seems to have a spare one! :?

Id abandon the original pattern Stuart. I had trouble with mine when the car was only three-four years old. I doubt that any have improved over the extra twenty years that they all have on them now.

It's looking likely Simon. Adapters are readily available but they are about £70 for a pair!! I then need an aftermarket cooler, probably 10 row will be fine, about £25 and then I'll need about £50 worth of stainless braided hose to link the adapters to the cooler. I will also need to find somewhere suitable to mount the cooler. I may also just try and get my existing cooler tig welded. My leak is right where the p-clamp is, both ends are fine and o-rings are new. I think the pipe is aluminium, probably just need to find the leak and grind away the fins at that point to do the repair.

Decisions decisions!

Stuart

changed me NSF ball joint to try and alleviate a clunking sound which occured during hard cornering and going over small bumps. The only one came out with to much fuss, to find the boot had split, but it was hidden by the brake disc. 45minuties later I had done the swap and shot down the road for a test drive. No more clunking!

The whole experience was much quieter so I think the noise must have been transmitting around the chassis.

Decided that id change the other while I was at it, but bugger the pinch bolt, nut was so rusty I couldnt get a spanner to stay on it, so ill have to source a replacement nut and bolt before I cut the old on out.

Are they high tensile steel?

Finally got hold of a replacement gearbox cooler, James at only9 came to the rescue. Fitted it and topped up the gearbox oil last night, no more leaks!!

I have also bought a 13 row cooler which I am going to use to fabricate a new solution and have on the shelf in case I destroy another standard cooler!!

I changed the oil today on my 944 s2 ,i was worried about the oil pressure since i bought it a month or so ago ,as it was 4ish bar on a cold start and then 2bar at warm idle ,and never went above 4 bar even on the motorway

I put in castrol magnitec 10/40 ,changed the filter also

when I started her up she instantly indicated 5 bar ,warm idle is 3-3.5 bar and shows 5 at anything over 1500 revs when warm

I dont know what oil was in there but I'm quite satisfied with the result

Today I went to Bridges breakers yard near Crawley, and picked off a 924:

- horns
- windscreen washer pump + plumbing
- window switches
- 4-way mirror switch
- rear lid latches
- hatch seal
- air intake piece
- script door cards for Jon Jeffryes

All for £40!
