Thats looking so good Steve

My red 924S has always had black sills, those pics have convinced me that when I straighted out the bottom edge they will have to be repainted red! A much cleaner look

When strapped in neither of us can touch it!! It will be moved to the stereo blanking plate shortly. Must resist the temptation for 'just a little bit more!!'

My old Lux is currently on a set of winter tyres / hand painted cookie cutters.

As there is now a bit of sun creeping in I'm turning my thoughts to sticky summer rubber and new wheels.

I've just dropped a set of 4 tatty but sound 15'' Cookie Cutters off for media blasting. After a lot of headscratching on colour I've decided to follow Colin Chapman's example and simply add lightness :)

Thus they're being taken right back to the bare magnesium alloy and then just clearcoated in true Silver Arrows style!

Really looking forward to getting them on once all the snow and salt is gone.

Also just ordered £40 worth of bulbs. Osram Nightbreaker H4 and H3 for the front and decent Osram efforts for better sidelights, indicators and brake lights. Will be good to see where I'm going.

Finally trailered the car back from the MOT work.

Looking a bit sorry for herself, hopefully the weather will break so I can give her a good valet while I start shopping for parts for the front end service.

I assume you mean CAS Coatings in Bradford for that price. I've used them once before to to a set of steelies for the DS. Frankly not very impressed but, as you say, they're very cheap.

Mine are being done by a friend who has a media blasting business on the side. He'll have to use quite an aggressive compound to blast them back. He's suggested it will end up as a kind of brushed finish, should look cool. I'm paying him £150 cash for all 4 to include as many coats of clearcoat to get them spanking.

Can put you in touch if you like, he's based near me.

Polished the engine bay parts that are accessible while the block is out.

Drove my 944 to a local indie by the name of TWG Porsche for a service and inspection today. Will be with them for a day or two. Hope to write a review of them.

While traveling there a friendly boxster driver waved and followed me to the garage. Nice little convoy.

The owner is a bit unpredictable, I was going to buy a 968 from them but the price went up and down like a brides nighty  .

drove it, and then drove it some more. I've got a slight comment weep from.a coolant hose into the radiator. Think its just a dodgy jubilee clip. It goes from max to min over 100miles so its not to bad.

Will tend it to the weekend.

It couldn't be anyone else at that price, could it? :D

Id be very interested - I have several sets on wheels which need doing and most are too good for CAS.

Picked up my 944 from TWG today following full service and inspection. No apparent mechanical faults noted which was great. A few electrical and body work faults but thats all they had to say.

Anyway, driving her home and on a dual carriage way all of a sudden the RPM went to max red line. Anyway, I was stuffed as no where to stop on a 70 mile an hour road so I kept putting it into 5th getting up to about 70+ then popping out of gear to slow down. Dangerous I know but this inner city dual carriage way had no where safe to stop. Anyway, found a grass verge and rang TWG. They sent someone out straight away and he picked up the throttle cable had come off. Popped it back on and off I go, down the road I travel and it happened again. I put it back myself this time however noticed it stuck so I freed it and took it back to the garage. Mechanic and owner were very apologetic although could not see how it happened all of a sudden. They have kept the car to sort it however the mechanic said is could be a build up of carbon or something so would strip it and test it out etc.

This probably makes no sense as I dont know all the technical words but I was happy with there serice although the damn car scarred me to death running at max rpm. Hope the engine has not been damaged and I must have burnt some clutch and brakes controling it.

Today I made another attempt at picking up the 944. This time with success. TWG had taken the throttle cable and bits apart, cleaned up and replaced. Working fine now it appears. Was pleased with the service they offered and they sorted this out for free.

They highlighted the rear tyre walls are cracked and close to MOT failure. Advised I replaced before next MOT. The tyre's are on dialphone wheels and are 215/60/15 size. Not sure if this is correct so want to check if someone can advise. I like the look of the size I must say. Meaty and chunky!!

Today I picked up the turbo from the garage following a PAS rack was fitted. Used Porsche Torque in Uxbridge. They charged two hrs labour @ £120. Previously have used JMG, and they are equally as good but smaller operation. Since they are local will use them again :) The rack was purchased as a recon unit from ''western power steering'' in Bristol. They charged £175.00, which is bloody excellent! They gave me 2 weeks to return the core unit aswell!

Also had a trip to my much trusted body shop, custom car & classic, to talk about repairing some blemishes and rot!. Car is booked in for 16th, and subject to funds may be getting a full re-spray dependant on cost of repairing rot and a horrible fibreglass repair to rear chassis member that previous owner carried out.

The bodyshop have fixed a lot of 944's in their time, and after many years of trying different companies they are the ones I will only use.

Only other thing I did was book myself on the Eurotunnel for 1st week of June. me and several friends are doing a RWD convoy down to cannes, Pyrenees and some of the tour de france cycling route. Can't wait, as it will be my first trip in the turbo :bounce:
