Took the engine out to remove the clutch, there is a large rubber disk in the clutch that had failed. We took out the engine so that we could move the car while we sourced the parts.

Visited a car show in Belgium over the weekend so gave the car a good clean today and replaced the bonnet struts which had started to go. Noticed that the bonnet light to illuminate the engine isn't working.

One task down, another discovered

It took me a while to work out that the bonnet light only works with the headlights on.

Made a start on cam/balance belt and waterpump change today after a quick run to OPC to pick up a flywheel lock tool! So far the car is in the air, the starter motor is out, the fans and radiator are out so I have good access now.

Tomorrow morning I will set TDC and lock it off and have a go at getting all the pulleys ready to be replaced!

Is that your rooftop entertainment system? Or perhaps your Clarke's Garage guidebook?

started stripping the 944t engine to inspect condition ready for refresh! plesantly surprised by the condition of the engine!

i also found another complete turbo engine with all ancilleries to purchase, which will give me back all the ancilleries items i sold from my turbo! and i will have a spare block/head to inspect and choose the best of the bunch to use in the car.

Set the engine to TDC - spent a while double checking it as it was very hard to see the OT mark on the flywheel. Got there in the end though. Locked the flywheel all fine and got on with it. Mostly pretty straight forward removing the belts and pulleys and now all stripped off and covered in de greaser around the front to clean it all up.

Only issue a sheared bolt for the water pump :( so need to sort that out tomorrow and then clean the surface up so its ready for all the new bits.

Today I drove around a mini roundabout quite fast, and was treated to a small shower of water on my feet! How did that get in? The brake pedal was a bit damp afterwards, and there must have been some rain sitting at the back of the engine bay.

Cut the rubber flaps off the under screen area drain holes. When the lake is sufficiently large itll slosh in though the heater and all over your feet.

Oh that's where it came in! The rubber flaps are already cut out though.

Took a ride down to the most excellent JMG in Christchurch and left the old 944 with them for an inspection.

Good to meet Jamie and yourself Jon.

Yep the waterpump was knackered, once removed and inspected the impeller made a grinding noise, the small plastic bit that a hose connects to was siliconed on and had a sneered bolt so glad I was replacing it really! New thermostat went in as well. The custom stud I made to replace the ruined stud worked ok

The car is back on the road, I will double check everything very very soon by removing the top cover.

Was certainly interesting to do, I wouldn't do it with out a fly wheel lock but I didn't need anything else particularly special. I just hope it all remains ok!
