Hi All,
Have beento see Darren @R.P.M. mine doesnt need re-indexing to fit the KW3 and they are fitting it
for the retail price of about £1300- the only extra is 4 wheel geometry about £270.
I have booked it in for about a month as KW have a parts shortage and cant deliver before then.
Will let you all know when its done. I have had a passenger ride in Steve 944 Turbo at Silverstone and
it is very impressive on track- thanks again Steve-if you want to use my spare 16'' wheels as we discussed
your welcome anytime.
Cheers Ron

Dead in the water apparently, you could always go for Koni's and adjustable spring platforms, or Gaz, probably what I'll end up fitting.

Well it was worth a try. I still have a few months to decide what to do. Refurb my MO30's, Gaz or if I am flush at the time a set of KW's. At the moment I'm collecting a few other bit and pieces like poly bushes, 968 Castor mounts, 30 dia ARB etc.

Ron, can you tell me what car your fitting the KW to.?? Is it a S2 or Turbo.??
Either way, i personally think it WILL need re-indexing.. otherwise itl look way to high. [+ i think that by RPM saying it doesnt need doing, they are cutting corners, ], or you want it done on the cheap....
The cars standard suspension is set at a particular height, for comfort, mainly the T bars anyway. When fitting the KW the extra springs on the coil overs will push the rear end UP...
If its not lowered the car will have 2 things wrong. Itl be too high + the KW springs wont work correctly with the T bars.
I have fitted a set to my 968 "Sport". These come from the factory lower than ANY 944 does + in fact seemingly lower than any 968 does ,+ mine needed re-indexing for it all to not only look correct, but also work correctly...
No i didnt take the car anywhere to get it done, i did it myself...That way i know its right....
This is obviously my thought on it all. BUT i have "done" 2 cars with KW ,[correctly] + seen loads more done incorectly,,,so i realy should know what im typing about.....
Dont say you werent warned / advised......

So how long does it take you to re-index the T bars, I've read accounts that vary between 3 and 10 hours, consisting of loosening one side at a time and manouvering the T-bar out to dropping most of the rear end out of the car (944).

Pauly.
To be honest, i coulndt tell you exactly,
As each time i did the job, i did a LOT of other work [whilst your in there] such as , fuel line replacement, brake line replace, hand brake cables, new bushes throughout, etc etc etc ...
So if i were to add up the total number of hrs, its be a fair few...
As i fully removed the rear beam each time + powder coated it ,among other stuff....

Hi Big Dave,
Thanks for reply, its an S2 1989 currently with mo30. It will be for road use only, and doesnt need
to be any lower than it is at moment.
They have done several cars without re- indexing i have had several passenger laps in Steve 944T's
Turbo at Silverstone- his is one they did without re-indexing.
I am not trying to do this on cheap and have asked them (RPM) more than once if it is necessary.
Therefore if they had said yes they would have made more money.
I dont know how to post pics but you can see my car in my Avatar in PCGB for ride height- it was
George Hensons old car he was a TIPEC member.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers Ron

Hello Ron,
You have nothing to lose by trying the rear shocks on without re-indexing, though I'm inclined to agree with BigDave as he has fitted this setup at least twice, I also think you wouldn't get the best results unless you change the bushes front and rear.

Hi Pauly,
Will probably change to 968 castor mounts- I will ask them to reindex if necessary.

Bushes and 4 wheel alignment were done about 2K ago but will have to be redone.
cheers Ron
