Well it passed the MOT :bounce:

Now to put some mileage on it before 1500 miles across Europe in 2 weeks time !

Drives superb and an absolute pleasure to drive, no knocks, bangs, rattles or leak - RESULT !

1st shakedown after completing a major mechanical overhaul

Just under 90 mile covered today and all went well

All dry and no visible fluid leaks - will check again tomorrow

My S2 performed perfectly and it was a pleasure to drive

Only sad thing is that another 51 mile and it goes into the 100,000 miles :(

Looks good on the back with the +20mm spacers fitted and no rubbing issues !

Those spacers did the trick on the back, much better than standard.

Certainly smoothes the rear profile now and so much better with the sill covers

May do the fronts +20mm later as well

I didnt set out to get a sub 100k model but it was nice when I did find this one

Be sad to see it go over 100k but with all the remedial work I have carried out the mileage aint gonna make a scrap of difference as I know what has been done to my S2

The resto may be near the end but I still have plenty of plans for goodies to be fitted etc - lol

Hi, I can see the +20mm at the rear looks sweet and I guess the front is begging to be done too, but if you do it please let us know how steering etc feels afterwards. I suspect that there will be some change, not sure that it would be adverse, but a difference never the less.

My S2 is the same lovely blue. Does yours have a light grey interior?

Rob

I may do +20's on the front at a later date

The interior in mine is grey leather

Well today has been a bit of a backward step :(

Prior to starting this refurb/rebuild I had a minor intermittent misfire but it never reappeared

UNTIL this afternoon !!!

Fuel = Yes

Spark = Yes

Compression on Cyl 1 = No then Yes (13bar) then No and then 2 bar ?????

2, 3 & 4 are all at 13 bar

I know what this is gonna be - SNAPPED Valve spring !!

So 45 mins later and here is what I found

Luckily Porsche's tendancy to over engineer things meant that the inner spring was able to ensure no piston to valve contact took place :bounce:

New pair of springs ordered from Sutton OPC (should arrive Wednesday morn) and all be back together and running on Wednesday afternoon :drunken:
