I don't think you'll find the paint shade in Halfords. Even Porsche might not have it. Try an independent automotive paint supplier like Jawel Paint. (It's actualy a V.W. colour) they should be able to mix you some up.

They don't even have my VW paint in Halfords but they have a book of most paint codes available from their supplier (used to work there) so will hopefully find a swatch to match it up to so I know for sure it's the right paint.

I have just bought one of the Turkis Blue S2s and you can get that colour at Halfords but not off the shelf. I got a stone chip/touch up pen made up yesterday. Mine is H916 XYM pictured here in an old thread before I owned it.

Excellent news, I should be able to take a headlight cover or something in and find out whether it is actually that colour or just something very close.

At last I've done it, the engine works!

I got fed up with my dead fuel pump and don't have the cash to buy a new one so I managed to pry the crimped part of the casing apart and remove the innards. Turns out that some rubbish had gotten in there and jammed the mechanism so after a good cleanup and a rebuild the pump lives again!

Annoying the car still won't start on the key so I had to use a bit of wire to get the starter motor to fire and then after plenty of spluttering and a bit of fresh(ish) fuel the engine coughed into life.

After a few runs up and down the drive way and a lot of white smoke later the engine decided it didn't want to play any more and every time I pressed the throttle the revs dropped and the engine almost died. After leaving it to rest for a moment and then starting again it ran much smoother and there was no more smoke to be seen from the exhaust.

So now that it is running I have noticed a few things, firstly there isn't a constant buzz from the fuel pump and the engine seems to whirr quite a lot. The oil pressure gauge is a bit jumpy but I'm assuming that's just down to a dodgy sender.

Here are a couple of vids I took on my phone but sadly the sound quality is absolutely useless and the wind didn't help matters either.

Thanks Jim.

I now have the car running from the key, turned out that the ancient immobiliser had packed up and was constantly cutting the connection to the starter so I removed it from the circuit.

Exhaust was rather smokey for a while but disappeared after discovering that there was an air lock in the heating system which was dealt with. Still not running too smoothly as it's not got great fuel in there.

Still wondering about the whirring noise coming from the engine but I think it's just worn belts, time to get my hands dirty and have a go at doing the balance and cam belts.

Car is still paying for itself as I discovered £2 under the drivers seat ;)
