If you go to the effort of changing the header tank why haven't you flushed the system and changed all the coolant? Its not going to be long before the old coolant ruins your new tank + coolant protects engine w'pump etc and should be changed every couple of years.

Looks much better now, you still cheated though ;)

I know what you mean about not being able to see the coolant level before, I had no idea where mine was before but now it's a nice clear line on the tank, much better! Should get a pic of mine back in the engine bay to demonstrate what an old one cleaned up looks like.

Also I noticed that your turbo tank had two large outlets unlike mine which only had one. The only other in mine is the small return at the top of the tank which makes me wonder whether a new (968 style) would fit mine, perhaps they do another one for the other cars (possibly more expensive?).

Turbo & S2 had secondary outlet from the water pump to it. Helps to bleed the air out.

Turbo outlet is to aux pump on turbo which runs for 30secs after turning off.

Ahh so that's what the extra pipe is on the water pump, I was wondering where that went.

Rich coolant was changed by Steve Bull specialist cars in Devizes just after i bought the car late last year. The car has done less than 3000 miles since.
