I have bought one of these pumps from ecp recently, It looks to be quality and the bearing seems smooth with no play. It is also a URO branded item.
Has anyone fitted one yet and if so any feedback.

Im resurrecting this thread ahead of my belt change in a couple of weeks.

My question is re the URO water pumps we all picked up at a ridiculously low price a year or so ago.... and the question is whether there are any running reports on these pumps and more importantly whether there are any known failures....

I ask this question as John at Unit Eleven was dead against URO in any shape or form... GEBA, yes. URO, no. Whilst he didn't have any case evidence of a URO pump failing, he mentioned his contact at ECP said he would fit them in a million years.

This is an interesting view as ECP sell these indirectly under their CIRCOLI brand. ECP did have the GEBA option available at around £200 or so - can't remember if there vat on that or not. Porsche ones were around the £470 mark!!

Do I fit the URO one I bought for less than £70 some 15 months ago or do I spend the extra on GEBA or an OPC supplied original?

Answers on a postcard please :D  :D

I was just looking at these Circoli pumps and I was wondering if they would fit my 944S 16v, I did assume it would be the same fitment as the S2 pumps but it says not apparently. Does anyone know the difference, I was thinking it may just be the plastic coolant take off on top of the pump that is blanked off on the S but isn't on the S2, I could fit the old one to the new pump if that is the only difference?

AFAIK the 2.5 pump has a smaller impeller than the 2.7/3.0 pumps. Though I've read a small grinding mod on the block allows fitment.

The later pumps have a 68mm impeller the early ones 58mm, I have also read that a bit of fettling with a Dremel can resolve that

I've always been a little put off by buying anything from a pattern part manufacturer than is so important to the running of the engine. If the water pump fails then the timing belt will stop working, which in turn means catastrophic engine damage. Is it really worth the risk?

it would need to seize completely before it affected the timing belt, think you would have a leak and a lot of noise before you reached that point,
