That's almost the perfect iteration of a 924/944/968 - if it was me, I'd keep it with stock bodywork.

I think she looks awesome with the stock bodywork, I would maybe just add a set of Fuchs like Steve's turbo and maybe a vented badge pannel with 944S2/Turbo slam pannel so it could benefit from the air filter being located in that space and fed with cold air through the 924T front vents..

Having said that, the other option is always to relocate the air filter beind the left hand headlight, however this are suffers as a low pressure zone, so what you gain 0 to 30 mph is lower temperatures, you loose above 30 mph in lower air pressure, which is why we go for the air filter in the higher air pressure zone in front of the engine, which above 30 benefits from high pressure and ambient temperature air, so we opt for the air filter location as per this car's installed position.

This also concludes that the only benefit from the 924 turbo vented nose is slightly higher pressure as speed mounts but above 30 mph the same induction temperature.

Narrow body it is such a sleeper though and without vents even more so... Form versus function I guess

Very jealous. I'd love a 968 engine in mine.

When is is going to Daytona? I need to pop up there to discuss when mine is going in.

Not sure, I may just get a few bits done for now, bonnet and roof are both both in need of a lick of paint

Interesting as I don't think I know any 968 owner that has one of those air filters (unless supercharged)..

Sleeper narrow body is cool as I think I said to you at the last meeting.

Looking forward to driving with that one :bounce:

It was snowing when i left home on Saturday morning and it didn't feel much warmer when I picked the car up.
The roads were damp, temps at around +1 and summer 225's on my rear wheels.
Yes it was a careful drive back

Yesterday it was a bit warmer around here and I went out for a wee drive
The acceleration is fantastic but the most noticeable thing is the extra torque, no longer need to drop a gear to overtake.
However, I quite like having to drop a gear to overtake  but now if I do that

couple more pics

Out in the cold until I get a new garage

Definitely wasn't driving it in this

Took the white one out instead as it's got winter snow tyres

The wide rear tyres were rubbing a wee bit under cornering or heavy acceleration when i had a passenger

So yesterday i had the arches rolled.

I had a mobile guy from Archenemy come out, after assesing the arch, panel and tyres, he started by removing the sealant fron the lip of the arch.
A roller is attatched to the hub, then the lip is heated up with a hot air gun and is slowly bent back using the roller
Paul suggested we only bent the lip back 45° due to the chance of the large panel deforming and that would be enough to clear the tyres.
After rolling, new sealant was applied and we were good to go :D

Now i just need to take it for a spirited drive around some twisty bits

Sounds good!

Don't bring it near me, the roads around here are lethal with grease, my car is a double handful!

Did 140 miles in it today and no rubbing.
it`s the first time i`ve been able to give it some beans and it was everything i had hoped for
acceleration is great, not quite the twisty roads i had in mind but a great drive to Daytona Coachworx and back

I live just over a mile away from Daytona. you'll have to pop over next time you head this way. I want to see this 924/68. Very jealous. I want a 944/68.

With the values of 968's on the rise this kind of thing will be happening less and less as less 968's get written off for being an uneccomonical repair by insurance companies, and as the values of the engines goes through the roof (not that they have ever been cheap)

Shame, by this point we have done a few 944/968s and a couple of 924/968s, along with many more early 944lux/924s with S2 engines and even though Jason's 924S (both of them) seem to have odd ball wire colour coding which we have now seen on another one of the same year but had not noticed before, we have pretty much cracked installing these in such a way as to not have to modify the car in any way (a 924S or lux engine with standard engine loom will bolt and plug back in without any work to retrofit the car back.

Might seem like a daft priority, but we have always tried to make all our mods completely reverseable, plug and play as well as not involving modifying anything outside of the targeted item.. in this case a 968 engine conversion.

The 3.0 16v 944 engine is a good alternative, but with 944S2s also on the rise value wise, they might be less common a conversion also.

A real shame in some ways, as the 924S and early 944 in particular really do work well with a 3.0 16v conversion, especially due to the low gearing and light weight.

As sad as it sounds, the thing I am always most proud of on these is the installation of 968 brakes while retaining early offsets and a working standard early 944 or 924S speedo and nothing being hacked about and all the service parts (disks, pads) being easily available from the Porsche catalogue for future servicing work... Likewise, other than the air filter, any Porsche garage could service this with only 924S and 968 manuals and Porsche parts without any head scratching or reverse engineering.

Well done Jason for investing in this, your car really is truely special now, even I am jealous!

Thanks Jon,

The engine certainly looks like a factory fit, obviously as you say apart from the air filter.
Sadly I had it all done at the wrong time of the year and haven't really been able to put it properly through it paces yet.

Still plenty of tweaks here and there to do

New interior, the seats and door cards ore of to Trimmania nr Bracknell next week
Later 944 bonded screen
RHD wiper conversion (for those that didn't realise, all 924's and early 944's didn't have different wipers for RHD)
Paint bonnet, nose, bumper and roof

Jason brought this over to my office the other day as I've not seen it yet due to missing a monthly meet or two recently.

It's a nice bit of kit now, looking forward to going out on a driving meet!
