Great job, great looking car, count me as another fan of the azev alloys.

I know the old saying 'Never build what you can buy' but with good rot free turbo's getting rarer, your route makes plenty of sense to me. Very nice car.

Did you change the exhaust valves? I always wondered if sodium filled valves were essiential.

Always liked the look of your car especially the height and the Wheels are spot on IMO. Fantastic build.

What an interesting build thread, love the stance of the car, and with the n/a body it makes it a real street sleeper, hope to see it soon, perhaps Hatton ?

Head is standard n/a, im sure it makes some difference but not for what i use it for.
There are plenty of urbo cars that dont use them.

This happend- :(

Image

The wastegate to exhaust pipe. I made a blank for the exhaust and let the wastegate vent to atmoshere - which sounded cool.
I now have it welded very well by a freind (a metal worker for Aston Martin) I wanted to give him a drink for it - but he said he rather be taken for a spin.
He is now on the lookout for a 944 turbo.

This is a stunning car! I love the wheels, and also the build of the turbo engine. Top work.

great build mate. im currently building a 944 turbo track car which is black, and also will be running some awsome azev wheels.(similar to yours but not the same) although the fitment atm is slightly aggresive, as my car is a later model with the higher standard offsets, switching to et15 has pushed the wheels around 50mm out of the arches! im hoping to have it together within the next few months but we shall see.

check out the build thread, its the nickson motorsport turbo track build.

where are u located? might be worth meeting for a shoot sometime, i have a chap who is awsome with a camera !

Sounds good!

I checked your build thread - a lot of work going into that!

SO, since last update, its been used daily and.. DC show-

Santa pod (wet)

Image

Image

plus various trips around the UK, but one day on my way home giving it some, i spun no 2 end shell.

Causing it to look like this-

Image

While i got this out

Image

Gave it a light re build and bought a donor for a good crank and rod-

Image

Image

Image

Also fitted a k26~8 (thanks avants2turbo) and a better camshaft.

Image

So with 1.4 bar boost, 83 camshaft, k26#8, non cat single box exhaust, wastegate to atmospere, 3 bar FPR, LR max chips,
cone filter, uprated BOV, the car should be putting out almost double what the n/a gearbox was intended for.
Even with the previous k26#6 kick in, santapod launches, and daily abuse the n/a 5y gearbox remains calm. The final drive ratio makes it a quick car which is why i like it, but why hasnt it failed yet? Interesting eh?

These are cars are fantastically over-engineered.
